Does any one know any web sites where I can find information about Hindu goddess Lalitha/Lalita.

I'm writting a research paper about here, but so far just found one site with very little information.

Any help would be appreciated.....

MM Stacy! :)

I've been interested in Hindu mythology for the last few months. It's so fascinating. Saturday, I went to an art museum. The museum has a huge display of Hindu gods and goddesses statues. At the museum, I learned that long ear lobes and curly hair are signs of the divine in the Hindu culture. Do you by chance know why this is?

Well, here are some links for Lalitha.

Here's a good site for Hindu resources.

I'm really interested in learning more about this goddess as well as other deities in the Hindu pantheon. I'll look for more probably on Wednesday.

I would love to read some of your findings on Lalitha.

Mnemosyne,

yes, I agree..Hindu religion is very fascinating..

Thank you for your links, I will go now and check them out..

I'm not sure about curly hair, though.. If I find out, I'll let you know..

One thing that is very interesting about Hindu religion is that they had a large number of goddesses, but they all acctually represent many aspects of one goddess Kali.. which further reviles 2 aspects of Hindu belief: many deities and only one deity..

If you have anything else that you would share, please post it..

This is my first "real" interest in learning more about this religion..

Thanks for telling me that some deities are just different aspects of one god or goddess. I was just reading about similar characteristics in mythologies across the world. On the site, the author states that the Hindu pantheon has 333 million deities. I looked into this claim a bit more and found out that deities reveal themselves in a multitude of ways.

Oh I found out that the deites have long earlobes in Hindu art, since elongated earlobes are a sign of wisdom and respectabitlity in the culture.

Excelent site!

But mythology's enduring worth is not in its possible historical or scientific accuracy; instead, myths are important because they are metaphors. We learn about life and people and values in a way which cannot be offered by dry historical or philosophical accounts; in mythology, we learn through imagination, as we feel and visualize the colorful adventures of the deities.

How very well said.. It touches the essence and existence of soul that does not understand plain simple "dry" words that are understood by the human mind, but rather other form, such as "imagination, as" (we/soul) "feel(s) and visualize(s) the colorful adventures of the deities". JMO

I'm gonna have to book mark this site!
