View Full Version : Do The Stones We Dislike Have Something To Teach Us?

I have never liked Amethyst.
Which is weird, because I love purple.

(Conversely, while I don't much like yellow, I adore citrine)

I have recently been given many different samples of amethyst crystals. Some tumbled stones, some natural points. all of them various shades of amethyst, and all of them making my skin crawl!

I don't know what it is about this stone that I just don't get.

The other day, I had a dream about amethyst, and then decided to meditate and ask the crystal itself what it was, and why I couldn't handle it.

I got an interesting answer. Amethyst is linked to crown chakra, and linked to Jupiter and to success. It's energy can be pure authority, and it doesn't put up with whining or dishonesty.

Turns out it has rubs me the wrong way for all the reasons that the Heirophant card in the tarot does.
But it has opened up some personal fears and issues for me, that I thought I had gotten over.

So you could say the gifts of amethyst at this time were truly gifts.

Has anyone else been repulsed by a stone that turned out to be a message to them?

if you are drawn to it, then you have a lesson or a need from it.

Well that's my point, lightdragon...I am NOT drawn to amethyst... in any way.

The fact that it keeps being given to me means something obviously...but I would never actually buy an amethyst or want one.

not likely. sometimes, there are just things that we don't like.

actually you are. just not willingly.

that you might have to figure on your own.

Thanks for feedback. In my first post I explained why Amethyst has been in my life recently. Even though I don't feel a need for it or drawn to it in any way...it had a lesson for me.

I was wondering if anyone else had a similar reaction as I did...a stone they don't like, or feel meh about, that suddenly becomes revealing.

I think you may be right aluokaloo, there are things we dislike, that don't come into our lives in any significant way.
I just wondered if our dislike is in some way telling us something?

I suppose "dislike" isn't the same as "hate." Dislike can be also seen as apathy, while hate is a sign that something is bugging us on some deeper level.
.
You might say I hated amethyst at certain times. Sometimes it moves from apathy to an intense feeling of revulsion.

And therin lies the lesson (at least for me!)

I avoid Lapis Lazuli not becuase I don't like it, but because the damned stuff BITES me every time I try to handle it.

I admit to having a bit of a masochistic streak, but even I have my limits.

Agates and I have a love/hate relationship, especially if it is in the yellows-browns category. Some days just looking at a piece of it threatens to set me off and others, like today, it's warm and friendly. I even found a carved agate ring in a dark orange variation that I'm currently wearing after I bought it today. He jumped out at me, literally, right onto the floor to make a get away! :)

I'm probably just to stressed and busy to handle the balancing nature of agate, it sucks me back to neutral almost to quickly if I'm not careful.

Everything has something to teach even if that something is that you dont like it! ;)

Now, I haven't found anything yet that I don't get along with at least on some level. But I have the opposite... ANY time I'm near Hematite, I get this urge to grab as much of it as I can and have this feeling that I have a MAJOR use for it, but can never figure out why.

I've had individual stones of different types yell at me, or bite me, but never all of that type, just random ones. So I don't know if it's just my very balanced nature, but I always feel that the ones that have anything to say, whether good or bad, have something to teach me. (Now whether I listen or not is another story.. but they all have something).

I don't like hematite. I'll use it for magic, but as jewelry I don't find it attractive. That black metallic sheen always makes me think she's wearing a necklace of ball bearings.

I was in the crystal shop when the owner said, "I think this is for you", and held out a citrine point. I didn't particularly like it - it was a pale nicotine colour, lol - and it cost more than I wanted to pay. But, hey, what do I know, so I bought it and took it home.:smileroll

That whole day I had the taste of lemons in my mouth, which I couldn't figure as I hadn't had lemons or lemon juice that day (or week).

And that evening, I started a sobbing that I just couldn't stop all night long. I thought I was having a breakdown! I phoned my mum in a terrible state and just kept saying to her, "Nothing stays the same. Nothing can be held in place forever. I can't keep things still..." and things like that.

Next day, the same thing. But I began to suspect it was something to do with the citrine, if only because it was the only "new" thing in my entire world at that time. So I wrapped it in black cloth and put it out in the garden shed, lol, until I took it the next day back to the shop for a refund.

Wow! It was like losing a limb. I simply had to go and get it back. It made me cry for a few days more - although not so fiercely that my solar plexus ached, as it had before; and it was only in hindsight that I recognised I did have blocks the citrine specialises in (quite brutally too).:hairred:

So, like it or not, I'd say hang onto that amethyst and see what comes.

Blessings, RedCoil:)

I'm wearing a wire wrapped piece of Bloodstone right now - It feels odd, I can't put my fimger on it. It's alright looking, but I have the urge to take the necklace off. The stone is aloof. But, it called me to wear it this morning and so I am.

I bought a similiar piece to this but in rose quartz and I LOVE that one, and it's very friendly to me too.

Coming to this way late, but... Do you have grounding issues? That can often be a reason for an attraction to Hematite.

Wow! What an experience! Citrine is an awesome stone for absorbing and neutralizing negativity. Of course, you would first have to release it so that the stone could do it's job.

Again, wow.

the effect here is a common example of a stone(not just citrine) drawing out negative aspects or clearing blocks. also this type of citrine whould have been very clear and not white lines or parts in it.

Probably.. wouldn't suprise me. I've been having issues lately doing most things (would help if i could actually concentrate.. but that's another story)

:)

Thing of it is... i've ALWAYS gravitated torwards hematite and any stones/minerals that have healing powers of any kind.

but i've also been so drained lately that Ihaven't had the ambition to even try to ballance myself (which being a libra is a bad thing, but hey.. depression sux)
