Brittany Murphy died early this morning after she went into full cardiac arrest and could not be revived, multiple sources tell TMZ.
She was 32.
A 911 call was made at 8:00 AM from a home in Los Angeles that is listed as belonging to her husband, Simon Monjack, the Los Angeles City Fire Department tells TMZ.
We're told Murphy was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center where she was pronounced dead on arrival.
Murphy starred in such films as "Clueless," "8 Mile," and "Don't Say a Word."

I was never a fan, but it is quite sad when anyone dies, especially at such a young age.

I'm wondering if she was another celebrity that died from drug use, specifically prescription pills like Michael Jackson and Heath Ledger.
I mean, cardiac arrest at 32?

It is true.
Family statement:
Murphy's family has released the following statement to UsMagazine.com (http://www.usmagazine.com/): "In this time of sadness, the family thanks you for your love and support. It is their wish that you respect their privacy."&
A source tells TMZ that Murphy's mother discovered her unconscious in the shower. When paramedics arrived, they determined that the actress was in full cardiac arrest, and they began to administer CPR. They continued their CPR attempts during the ambulance trip to the hospital, but Murphy was unresponsive.TMZ may be a gossip site, but they're surprisingly accurate a lot of the time. They got the MJ thing right before everyone else.
Full cardiac arrest at 32 does sound strange. I'm thinking undiagnosed heart problem (hole in heart, arrhythmia, etc), some other medical issue or drug abuse (Rx most likely).

I have always thought she was pretty skinny and often wondered if she had anorexia, which can lead to heart attack.

yeah i was thinking the same thing about anorexia. Maybe a mix of anorexia and drugs. She looked almost skeletal in recent photos. So sad :(

My vote is for anorexia... look at her weight in Clueless, then look at her weight in any of her more recent movies. That extreme skinniness was not natural. It is very sad that fitting into size 0 jeans may have taken her life :(

a lot of people are calling that. Although with River Phoenix, that was a form of suicide because he didn't want to go past 30(Kurt Cobain also). Here BM was 32 , past the 3-0 mark. and there was speculation that the husband put something in her drink or that she got depressed from what she married.
Please bear in mind that these were from celeb blogs. And celeb blogs are usually worse than tabloid stories and are not exactly say the kindest things about celebs. Perez Hilton is one of the more nicer of these blogs.
anorexia can cause heart attacks, but in the more severe cases of it. here what AlorelithRose posted, she shows signs of anorexia but not extreme cases although close to it. usually the disease is caused by low self esteem issue or need to compete. Being she was an actress it would be the latter. This is a common problem with both the modeling and acting industry with pressure on them maintaining low weight.
I'm agreeing with what Ariste said.

Well TMZ says:
Brittany Murphy was very ill in the hours before she went into cardiac arrest and died, sources tell TMZ.
We're told Murphy was taking prescription meds for flu-like symptoms she had been experiencing for several days. We're told Murphy began vomiting early Sunday morning and told family members she was feeling very ill.
Sources say various prescriptions were found in the home -- written for Brittany Murphy, husband Simon Monjack, and Brittany's mom. One source says, "There were a lot ... a lot of prescriptions in the house."
...
We're also told authorities did not find illegal drugs in the house, but Murphy was definitely taking various prescription meds.

This is sad news. At least they aren't making new King of the Hill episodes anymore, so its not like her death will be an issue as far as that is concerned.

She was sick... no illegal drugs were found. There is no reason to assume drugs were involved. It is very possible whatever had made her sick is to blame. What kind of sickness did she have? H5N1?

I don't believe she was anorexic or a drug user. She may have been taking meds for whatever ailment she had prior that may have caused a severe reaction that led to her heart attack. There are alot of legit meds that do that. I actually agree with Laisrean, she may have had a H1N1 that could have given her complications.

If H1N1 was a possibility the media would be all over this to help spread panic.

its not so hard to believe. a lot of celebrities die young because of the lifestyles they lead. besides don't eating disorders cause heart attacks?

I just found out about her death this evening.
It's a shame that this talented woman had to go so early in life. I will pray to the Goddess for her and her family...
On another note, I've been noticing that young people and celebrities have been dropping like flies for the past few years:
Heath Ledger, Brittany Murphy, Senator Kennedy, Michael Jackson, among others...
I feel like no one is safe anymore. It's all very depressing...
I hope that we will lose no one else. I'm sick, yes sick, of hearing about the deaths of young people and people who were and still are well-loved.
Let's pray to the Goddess for all of them. I want to feel like the world is safe.

It's also possible that she had a bacterial or viral infection that spread to her heart due to lack of treatment. We just had a young kid in this area who had a heart attack due to that.
RIP Brittany Murphy. :(

yeah it's depressing. but i think a lot of celebs died young. Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix then going more recent like River Phoenix Curt Cobain and Dana Plato just to name a few. ok the last three were not to recent but it's just to make a point. In Brittney's case it would a death similar to Karen Carpenter. And also which was just as recent was Andy something who played the Host on the Angel tv series. i really don't feel like adding more names but there are a lot more.it's depressing to try to think about it.
It's also possible that she had a bacterial or viral infection that spread to her heart due to lack of treatment. We just had a young kid in this area who had a heart attack due to that.
RIP Brittany Murphy. :(highly unlikely in this case. the initial report for her cause of death was natural causes. but a few medical experts said it's highly unusal for an average 32 yr old woman of dying from natural causes then her husband refusing to allow an autopsy.

He's refusing an autopsy and she died at 32? Unless she has a family history of genetic heart defects, that screams "fishy" to me.

to be more correct. he tried to stop it. but according to the law he had no choice. She was recently fired from a movie project and when they came off the plane the husband was incorherent and had to be taken to a hospitial. and this was a few weeks ago. and they found a ton of prescription drugs in her name, her husbands and her mothers.

I am pretty certain her husband is Jewish, so that might explain it. But the husband always seemed like a thug to me anyways.
Also what sort of prescription drugs would one be taking for the flu? Far as I know there is no way to treat a virus and they just send you home.
I think it will end up being drug-related.
ETA: Funny, decided to see what her husband was about (not knowing much her to begin with and not even his name) and come to find Simon Monjack was some huge con-man, claims allege that he has used various social security numbers, defrauded girlfriends and abused their credit, etc. I read tons in many sources! Yikes! So my hunch was right, he seems to be quite the shady thug.
And some new info...on TMZ for what that's worth (tho as someone has said, they seem to get breaking real celeb news before any other news source)
Paramedics moved Brittany from the bathroom to the master bedroom, where they found a slew of prescription drugs -- "A check of the nightstands revealed large amounts of prescription medication in the decedent's name. Also noted were numerous empty prescription medication bottles in the decedent's husband's name, the decedent's mother's name and unidentified third party names."
According to the notes, the medications included Topamax (anti-seizure meds also to prevent migraines), Methylprednisolone (anti-inflammatory), Fluoxetine (depression med), Klonopin (anxiety med), Carbamazepine (treats Diabetic symptoms and is also a bipolar med), Ativan (anxiety med), Vicoprofen (pain reliever), Propranolol (hypertension, used to prevent heart attacks), Biaxin (antibiotic), Hydrocodone (pain med) and miscellaneous vitamins.

I think it's sad that the press are saying she died of 'natural causes' or else they don't know.
Brittany Murphy had an eating disorder. No one wants to talk about it, because people rarely do even if it's obvious. She also had a coke problem. An eating disorder alone can kill you, from a heart attack if not from other causes. Eating disorder AND a coke problem? It was only a matter of time. I just wish the media would be honest about it, instead of tip toeing around the subjects, even in death.
It's really sad. :goodgrief

it really is a sad thing. The media can not be honest. at least not at this point for both legal reasons and marketing reasons. first up if they bluntly say she had an eating disorder and did coke. there would be a lawsuit . as they need proof. they need proof from the autopsy reports. then there is pushing the story past a few shows as that is easier to do than to keep finding additional news stuff.
