A DEVOTED son died as he made his annual Christmas Day pilgrimage to his mother's grave - after slipping on a patch of ice at the cemetery in Manchester, England.
Builder Jimmy Halpin, 54, was on his way to lay a wreath with his sister Frances when he lost his footing and suffered fatal head and neck injuries.
His was rushed to Trafford General Hospital, Greater Manchester, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Just weeks earlier Mr Halpin had lost his wife Ann, 55, after she lost a battle against stomach cancer.
