I was hoping to charge my rose quartz piece tonight, but we have a horrible cloud cover and I could barely see the moon.

What else can I charge it with, is my only other option salt? (rose quartz fades in the sun.) I'd rather not do the energy through my hands thing, I'm not quite good at that, and I think I'm pulling from my own energy when I do it at all.

I need charging techiniques here, I'm pretty good at cleansing so far.

And note: even if I can see the moon tomorrow, I can't leave it out overnight, thanks to parents snooping. (I'm 18 but live at home.)

I did do a short spontaneous 'ritual' while I could see the moon, but that was it.

I have a piece of rose quartz that I charge by wearing it close to my heart and against my skin for a moon cycle when I can't get it under the light of the Goddess when I'd like. I let it gather energy from myself, kind of like a battery to store for later. It's been dedicated to improving self esteem so whenever I receive a compliment or feel good about myself I focus that emotion around the crystal and while it's worn after the charging it can radiate those feelings back to me. With control, lending out your own energy can be beneficial. You sometimes have to give a little to be able to receive.

If you don't want to touch the stone, you could try a bell ringing ceremony to liven the crystal or bury it within the root mass of a plant so that it can receive indirect energy from the sun without bleaching the color. (*these are techniques I picked up from a friend. She swears by them and probably invented them for her own solitary purposes.)

Good luck with your crystal!

sometimes placing it in the windowsill or somewhere in the sunlight but not directly in the sun helps. In the morning I get sunlight in my front windows and I can set my stones on the floor or on the tv when the sunlight hits.. even tho they arent directly in the sun they are still getting the solar energy.

To charge your stone with the light of the full moon of the first night, when cloudy, there is a rerouted method of doing so.
Take your hands and form a chalice, focus all your energy on the clouds above, pull back with your energies and create a vacuum, pull down the energy from the full moon through the clouds, exact placement is not necessary.
Once you have a firm hold of these energise I want you to plant them in the ground, place the stone within the beam of energy, if you wish to leave it, you may, and let it charge within the newly directed energies, but make sure it is fixed in place and unwavering, look for a watter like moving aura, that's bad.
If you wish to meditate by your stone, do so, it will increase the charge substantially.

Because it is filtered through water it will be cleaner but it will take twice as long to charge, if you start now, depending on size, it can be charge by the first sun.

(Helpful tip, the first sun of the year is great for charging amber)

Why not use your own energy?

essentially what Xander67 said. in addition i would employ water with seas salt if any. also if you have clear quartz ,carnelian, citrine and/or hematite. these can help charge it.

I don't charge the stone until I'm ready to use it in a spell. Most crystals have multiple associations and need to be programmed to channel a specific type of energy. The exception, of course, is when the stone is meant to serve as a simple power battery, like my amber necklace. In that case, it is consecrated once, and then charged with surplus energy. It can then be drained at need and recharged when convenient.

I agree. as it's very rare will a stone have one association. offhand i can not think of anything.

however if you program the stone then it will be associated with one thing.

amber is one of the few stones where it has an almost unlimited associations. the consecration must have made it the power source you described.

I tend not to charge my stones till I am ready to use them. In between to cleanse them, I put them in the freezer until I am ready for them again. Since you live at home you could do what I call a "quick cleanse" which is put your stone in a cup of ice until the ice is mostly melted and then throw in some salt and think about the stones being cleansed while swirlering them in the cold ice water. To charge them, I simply put them in my hands and think about what I would like to use them for. I wait till my stones are warm or till they feel "done". I can't explain it other than you will just "know"... you get this sense that youre stone is ready and charged. I find that simple way of charging my stone is more personal and I get better "results" as my stones have been charged by me, with my need or whatnot. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!

I'm finding one problem with water - my rose quartz is wirewrapped and so I'm afraid that the wire will rust.

Get an amount of silica sand that you can stand it up in for ~24 hrs.

Caution! I have had crystals actually BREAK from the energy!

When you hold your hand over it (~1 inch) and feel the heat you know it's charged.

Peace
