Just heard it on the news. We need to help people! at this rate it will surpass the death toll from the mega-tsunami in Indonesia.

The number of feared dead is always grossly overinflated in disasters, but it's still a good idea to give if you have the money, even though earthquakes are a natural part of the earth's cycles. It's interesting that the people most eager to give are the people who aren't Hollywood celebrity millionaires, although fairly a handful of celebs gave some chump change.

I don't think there's an actual tab being counted in Haiti as people are being put in dump trucks and loaded into mass graves or buried by family or people that come across them. I've seen this on CNN. But I think in this case, the numbers aren't overinflated. Those that died in the initial earthquake, plus those that died from injuries after and even now due to poor medical aid and diseases that are starting to set in...yeah, I think the numbers could get higher.
