hello all, i was wondering about something. I have found that i have the ability to control the weather to some degree. Is there anybody else in here that has the same ability? I simply meditate for a while (5 minutes or so.) then i visualize what kind of weather i want and i specify the details. About one and a half week ago, i meditated as usual and visualized storm clouds gathering in the sky. And i wanted a snowstorm with at least 20 degrees below. One and a half week later i got my storm. (I had almost forgotten about it by then.) It was 25 degrees below and the storm came in over the southern part of finland where i live. half the country was engulfed in storm clouds. Luckily the storm wasnt that violent (27 mps) and it was over in the morning. (it had stormed all night) Now i realize that one shouldnt play with the weather, but i just had to try it once more just to make sure that it wasnt simply coincidences that was hapening each time i wanted a certain type of weather. I dont do rituals and spells since i find them unnecessary for me. I simply visualize what i wish to happen. But on the other hand, i havent really tried any spells and rituals out in a serious manner. Does rituals help very much when you perform magick?

Very wise words..remember that..

I consider ritual being a little bit different than spell casting (such as controlling the weather). Ritual for me is used to cherish the God/Goddess, cherish the nature and its rithm.. The spells are here included but in different sense..more like your communication with the divination through concentration and focusing..
On the other hand, clasical spell casting is used for your personal prosperity, piece of mind, strength, health..(remeber though, it shouldn't harm anyone..that's why I don't think you should do a weather-control spell anymore). You can do some kind of ritual when casting a spell.. But, in my opinion it should be entirelly created by you.. So, you can make altar in your own way; you can use tools.. In short: everything that you feel will help you in focusing your energy..
Just a thought: how long have you been studying Wicca? You know, you shouldn't cast any spells before you read about the religion, its rules, guidelines.. Because if you haven't, many things can go wrong when you just simply cast a spell.. Be careful: if you cast it, you can't undo it.. So read, learn, and think twice before doing anything..

I havent actually been studying wicca, and i didnt cast a spell when i controlled the weather. I just visualize, and use verbal thoughts. I project these thoughts and visions into a PSI ball which is a ball made out of energy which i hold between my hands. I then let the psi ball go and do whatever is needed. In the weather case, its enough to just meditate and visualize. But its always better to let the ball go and do whats needed. I really dont follow any religion but i always follow my inner voice. (My higher self, its commonly called conscience. It speaks to you either verbally or with feelings.) So i dont do anything to harm anyone anyway. But its true that it might be dangerous to play with the weather. I have a natural talent for it and im learning more and more, but then again i cant use it very often in case someone gets hurt. (car crashes etc..) I have a friend that is a wicca, and shes into astral projecting. i have astral projected a couple of times and i can say that its hard as &%/7 but very fun. you should try it out if you havent already. Its when you leave your body and travel to other dimensions. you can learn more on www.astralsociety.com The ritual thing doesnt sound like anything for me. I simply visualize everything i need to be done. Its easier that way. Dont know if its more effective though. At least i get results quite fast. I made it snow 20 minutes after meditating (no storms here, so it wasnt dangerous to anyone.) once. i used the psi ball technique when i got results that fast. It snowed for a couple of hours and then ended.

Well, I do remember one time a while back, it wasn't exactly controlling nature (which I am STRONGLY against...she knows what she's doing on her own) but it was definitely a sharing of energies and I did pour my own energies into the building storm and it was magnificent!
When I practice, I don't use spells or rituals either, it's just more the organic use and manipulation of the energies that I can feel. But then...I'm not Wiccan. The only ritual that I practice are those of my own making to honor the power and balance of Nature.

yes, i prefer to make my own rituals or spells (If i need to use those at some point) too. A good magician should know both good and evil and be educated in many different arts. Remember, you never stop learning. (Not saying that controlling the weather is evil or anything.) I havent learned very much about wiccans yet, and im a bit interested actually. I like to be close to nature and i dont like living in a city. When i am out walking in the moonshine by night in a forest, its like i become one with mother nature. I become so full of energy that it feels like you want to jump and run and sing and whatever. Its hard to describe really. have you ever had the same feeling?

Yep. I'm guessing the technique isn't hard, but whether the weather wants to co-operate is another story - nature has her own agenda :) I find if it's like "ok, let it stop raining hard until I can get back in the car and home" can work if I have stuff I don't want to get wet, for instance, or when we had to do a lot of work outside asking the weather to stay cooperative worked for each afternoon.
One and a half week later i got my storm.
Do you guys not usually get snowstorms in the winter..? Must be nice :) Here snowstorms and 25 below is fairly normal for the time of the year (I hate snow :D)

Ritual, just like it sounds, is something you do on a regular basis or to mark an event regularly - we do rituals for sabbats and esbats for instance. For some people doing regular rituals connects them with their Gods and spirituality, and helps them get together with friends or family. If you believe in working with deity then yes doing rituals will help you work magic (because you are connecting and reestablishing that connection with the divine so when you need to access it it's strong).
What you did *was* cast a spell - spells just involve focusing energy to a desired Will - ie. moving energy to affect the weather. They often include correspondences but magic (as you know) don't have to. You might light a candle or incense, or focus on a specific colour, but then as you've said there's no need to - one can focus energy directly if they want (for a lot of people it's easier to manipulate energy when they have a tool or focus, because it can be difficult to focus on abstract energy).

I have always seen rituals as the way people focus their thoughts and minds, the sort of "placebo effect" they use to access their own abilities, or those which they request from their surroundings and the gods. Don't get me wrong - *smiles* I have been known to do "workings". . . not really formalized rituals, but what my instincts tell me. I have never been very good at all with formalized mage-work, but if I follow my instincts, things work out.
I have yet to truely affect the weather. . . though, for instance, during a storm. . . I really love storms. . . sometimes I will stand in them, and direct my thoughts. "Argue with the storm" if you will ;) or simply reach into it. Push back against the breeze. Then it'll gust harder a moment. Sort of like a game. *smiles softly*

 Did you send that snowstorm over here from Finland? :T Seriously - I'm going to try your method but if you can help, great. I am supposed to work all day tomorrow which involves being on the road, and I will also be making extra money. They are predicting a 100% chance of six to twelve inches of snow  and the sleet has already started.
All I need are safe roads and the $400+ I'm supposed to make......
and for these children to be able to see their parents and get their Christmas presents.
