My husband and I went to this lake nearby yesterday for this thing.....this park system was trying to beat the world record for having the most kyaks(sp?) and canoos(sp?) in the water at one time....so we decided to participate....(it was the first time either of us was in a canoo) (sp?) the world record was 649....we made a new record with 776!!! We will be in the Guiness Book of World Records 2001....I don't think their putting all of the names...but if anyone see's it...I'm in there somewhere...(it's an ariel photo...you couldn't pick me out if you tried!!)
the book of world records isn't even the best part for me...the best part is that my husband and I found a new hobby!! We went back to that lake again this morning and rented a canoo....I think it's gonna be a regular thing for us:) we just paddle out and when we get to a good spot sit for awhile....if you've never done it before please do try it!!! I have never felt closer to the goddess before....all the trees and fish jumping out of the water and the light breeze....you just can't help thinking about how She is in everything!! It's so beautiful!!

Elaine,
Thank you for sharing! I soak up descriptions of wilderness and lakes, I miss the green of my native Minnesota. Arizona has beautiful deserts, but I have always been a baby of the woods.
Ahh...I can almost hear the slapping of waves on the side of the boat...... That's nice. Thank you again for giving me some cool green blue images to combat the dry beige of the Phoenix summer. ( do it again, do it again!)
Blessings and float a little for me,
Cybele

Elaine, that sounds wonderful! What a neat thing to do.
Your new hobby will be fulfilling to you too. I love being out on or in the water. Oceans or lakes, I am not picky :) But the way you decribed feeling the Goddess all around you- I love that feeling! Maybe while you are canoeing, you will find ways to talk to your husband about Wicca. There is no denying Her presence there.
Enjoy and don't forget to take some pictures too!

cybele- I'm glad I was able to stir up some good memories for you!! maybe next time we go out I"ll take some pictures and have my mom scan them in and I'll post them so you can see the beauty of this lake!!
sherry- I never noticed you were so close:) small world huh:) I'm glad you saw the pictures....:) we were in that first cluster of boats right in front of that main boat!! My husband found out about it through work...we promoted it on the air too!! It's such an amazing feeling to look at those pictures and know that I was there!! You would have had a blast if you could've gone!!
Chryssi- I completely agree about not being able to ignore Her presece in a place like that!! it's absolutely amazing!! I think my husband is coming around!! When I asked him if we had the money for me to buy a book and he asked me what kind of book I wanted ...I was expecting to get a hard time...he still calls me a devil worshipper (just giving me a hard time of course!!) but when he asked I got a big smile on my face and said "a witchy one" and he was totally cool with it...he just said, with a smile..."ok" made me feel good:)
thanks for everyone's wonderful response to my story!! I was hoping that someone else would benefit from hearing my story:) I'm glad you all did:)
(does anyone else think I'm abusing the smilie a little too much???) :)
