I'm new here still, and I feel horrible asking for energy. But I'm really needing all the help I can get for the upcoming week.
My husband is an over the road truck driver, he's been gone for the last six weeks. But he's coming home tonight. Normally I'd be ecstatic about this. However, within the last few months we've hit some rocky spots in our marriage and things are pretty tense between us. We are trying to work things out, through counseling and opening our communication.
However, I can't help but be nervous, anxious, etc about his homecoming. He'll be home for six days, and I'm nervous of how things will go.
I suppose what I'm asking for is just a little extra energy to help push things towards going smoothly. That we avoid major arguments and/or hurt feelings for the week to help us start back off on the right foot.
Thank you so much for listening to me ramble, and for your thoughts.

I'm also new here, but I've got plenty of energy to spare, so...if you can tell me how one exactly sends energy, I'll send you alot for the next few days :D

Nice to know there's another one here! It's a lifestyle many don't understand.

Being the spouse of a trucker isn't for everyone. It's challenging for sure. In my case, I was a truckers' kid so that helped. I knew what I was getting in to.

I was a trucker myself, so I think that experience helps me as well... (Of course, nothing prepared me for being a "Single Parent" for 6 weeks at a time!)

My hubby is a regional driver so he's usually out, at the most, 3 weeks. When he was OTR I about went nuts.

I'm jealous!! My husband has been looking for regional/local jobs for awhile. But so far his oTR job is the best option still. He's gone for 5-6 weeks then home 5-7 days.

See, even with hubby being regional, he's only home for 24hrs to two days.

Sometimes the full week is nice. It's like he gets a vacation every other month. (Of course, days like today he's sitting in a dock all day when he should be home already. That's frustrating... but otherwise, no big deal)

The company hubby is with originally gave regional drivers 3 weekends a month home. With the economy, that's changing. His last time out he was out for 3 weeks. Not what he signed up for but hey, he's making money.

My former son-in-law is an OTR driver. He's changed jobs several times in the last 7 years in order to be home as many weekends as possible. Both my grandkids are special needs kids and when he doesn't make it that really throws the youngest for a loop. He went through a period with the last company where he missed three weekends in a row, and the little one decided she didn't want to spend the next weekend with him. It was just to undependable for her.
He was 40 when the little one was born, it was his third marriage, he had almost given up on ever being a father. He would do anything for his girls.
Isabel, it sounds like you don't have any kids yet. Nothing to distract either of you from the tension you're both feeling. I'm sending positive energy for you both to be happy to see each other and to enjoy the time you spend together.

Thank you all for your energy and thoughts! So far, so good :) We've had a few small tats, but otherwise good.

We actually have a 19 month old daughter, I actually was an OTR driver as well, until I was about 6 months pregnant - then again from the time our little girl was 2 months until she was 13 months (she spent her first year on the road with us...)
