Freyja, you never told me how much Groucho looks like Ozzy!
 I thought I did! I was noticing last night that although he and
Freyja don't look much alike in that he looks very male and she looks very female, their facial markings are incredibly similar. The white over their noses comes up to the same point and the black mask covers the same amount of their faces. While Freya's mustache ended up on her nostrils, they both have the little beard.
Freyja's finally being more social and doing some playing, and she likes to jump high also - these two are definitely brother and sister. Sad that I think their father was this poor mauled stray that was so afraid of people. At least I was able to rescue these two.

I had never considered myself a *pet* person... But my husband was in dire need of a pet, so I relented. I had already put my foot down on cats or dogs, snakes or anything creepy crawling sort of thing, so we ended up with a bird. In a great ironic twist of fate, she bonded with ME and not my husband! Needless to say, we had to go out and buy another bird to pacify him. Now we have six cockatiels and one Quaker parrot. The Quaker is cool--he has a 40 word vocabulary and knows how to use it! Names: Baby, Buddy, Ms. Pac-Man, Moose, Sergeant and Homer. The Quaker's name is Gus (short for Angus)
When I finally complete my wand, I will be adding one of each of my bird's feather to it. Gosh, these little creatures are so much a part of my life that I don't remember a time without *the brats* as we call them. Right now, as I type these lines, Baby is on my shoulder [chewing on the leather cord that holds my turquoise nugget!] before long, she will be trying to make her way down to the keyboard--she LOVES the computer!
Now if I could only train her to type! LOL

Okay the dog is Lady Lass, the black and white cat with a spot on her mouth is Scoot, the other black and white is Boots, the grey and white is Smoky.
Lady, my uncle rescued her for us
Boots, my greatgrandfather rescued him, got him 11 yrs ago, thanksgiving day
Scoot - Bespin, a grey tabby stray decided to stay with us, Scoot was one of her 4 kittens. We gave one kitten away to someone from my grandparents' church. Bespin and other 2 kittens took off.
Smoky - not quite sure about him. He just showed up one day, and won't leave. It's impossible to walk ANYWHERE outside without Smoky literally under your feet. I've actually kicked the poor bugger in the head a few times just trying to get to my car. :T oops.
Oh and several duckies.
One goose that we never named. I moved (here) when I was 7, that goose was there. I'm 20 now, goose is still kickin.
Tarbaby - Eirwen Hartsock named her. Black duck with white spots, not sure what kinda duckie she is. That lil noname ducklin' is about as big as she is now.
We don't name the pekins (white ducks) or mallards cause we can't tell them apart. :tongueout
Well that and our ducks are frequently, hit by cars going 60+ on a 55 road. Get this, the "road people" gave our neighbors a tractor crossing sign, yet they REFUSE to give us a duck crossing sign. Now I haven't seen a tractor cross the street since that time it snowed and my grandfather had to go out and plow people's driveways. Also, when's the last time you saw a squashed up tractor lyin' on the side of the road? Anyone? Anyone ever seen a dead tractor? Yeah, what I thought...Oh and we have a store-bought duck crossing sign nailed to a telephone pole in our yard. Boo-yah!

Wheeee! OW has 2 ghost kitties!
Can I come over for a ghost hunt?
Several years ago, my sweet Violet got hit by a car. Couple of weeks later my daughter was sitting at the computer and turned to look down the hall and saw Violet walking towards her the sat down and curled her tail around her legs. Sterling looked away then realized, hey Violet's dead. When she looked back she was gone. Freaky.. But that stuff happened alot in New Orleans...
We had an old couple that haunted the house.
I am going to post my pets pics soon. I just have to find them all... I know where the snake is but it's the cats that are hard to round up.

Isn't that strange......My cat Rinky Dink got stupid and went out in front of a car and was killed. I buried her. That night, Ken saw her sitting on the dining room table. He even was in the process of telling her to get off the table when he remembered she was dead, and she just disappeared in front of his eyes. I told him she wanted to say goodbye and she appeared right where she would get his attention.
( I heard him later that night in the dining room, telling her that he loved her and saying goodbye..........)

It's funny...Patch was actually bought for me as an early birthday present, and Hex was bought for my mom as a Christmas present years before Patch...but after a while, they switched owners. :) Thank you :) We like em !!! Of course we have tons of wild birds, road runners, frogs, geckos, racoons, armadillios, etc.
But I wish I could find my pics of our wild chickens before they grew up and weren't cute anymore.
Story: We have had wild chickens here and across at the neighbors for about three years. the coons had about wiped them out by attacking the nests, My uncle took care of the coons ...not exactly the way I would have but at any rate, ... One hen laid her eggs in a sink that we have outside. High on legs, my dad originally used in the garden. the chicks hatched up in the sink and we got to watch all the different phases they went through. They would wait for the cats to get through eating and then eat the left overs... funny. Anyway they're grown now and moving on to bigger pastures... But it was a fun process to watch.

a little 2 month old (maybe) tuxedo kitten came up today. skinny. I tried to feed him, but he didn't seem to be hungry. Don't know if he will hang around. That will give us three males, and two unfixed as of right now. If we keep this one, he'll have to be fixed. The other one we can't catch.

We have a new one in the house.....again!
Thats ten now:bug: But this one(about 4 or 5 months old) was at my hubbys' truck yard being used as a garage mouser. Unfourtunatly this dimwitts that had her there were feeding her, worse than generic cat food (I dout this crap even said 'Cat Food' on the bag) They were letting her run around in the show and get covered with diesel, grease and any other solvents, oils etc that might be in the shop! And to top that off, she's bone thin.......I've seen homeless strays look better than her.....its truly sad!
But she is in the house now (after two days of hiding out under my shed) and she acts like she has lived here all her life....and none of the other cats are trying their territorial crap with her. I guess they just knew, she needed to be here.
As soon as all the stains have been cleaned out of her coat and she puts some weight on, I'll post her pic. She just has the most incredible bright lime green eyes I have ever seen on a cat. Especially since she is white (nive color for a dirty ol truck yard) and calico tabby patched.
I just wat her to look good for her MW debute
And we named her Anja:)

What to do about the worms, and what about this road kill thing? What kind of cat food do you all like?
Personally, I find the cat food to be a little crunchy.....but my furry family loves Friskies and Kit n' Kaboodle, and they love Friskies in the can and Fancy Feast...although feeding ten cats Fancy Feast gets slittle expensive, so they get that when its on sale!;)

Sox will eat anything kind of canned food. He loves Fancy Feast, but yes it does get expensive. My dad buys the cheapest cans, and mixes them with Friskies or Alpo, but he has 4 cats to feed. For dry all he uses is Chefs Blend. Sox usually eats what I feed him up here at our apartment then runs downstairs to finish whatever my dad's indoor cat doesnt' eat.
He is very helpful. You know he helps me with everything I do. Typing. Grading papers. Folding clothes. He even helps put away the groceries. He is on top of the computer right now helping me. He looks like a vulture waiting for something to die.
I gave him a worm capsule, swallowed it like a big boy and he is feeling much better. :)

I LOVE MY KITTIES!
Me too I love my kitty and my folks kitties. I have their pics posted here some where. I also have a pic of my Lucy posted. (snake) But Mr Sox from the recent post, he found us.
Kvann was painting and I was standing out with him incase he fell off the ladder, I could laugh at him...No JK... and Sox came up over the low stone fence and began to talk to us. Not afraid or anything. Kvann immediatly began to call him Sox and he knew the name before we could decide on another one.
So I really think that my little Llaso Ahpso is here through Sox and/or maybe my Violet kitty that found me too when she was very pregnant. I only had her for 4 months but we were very close.
The dog, Boogie, I had for 4 years. He was such a sweetheart. Part LA and pat Pek. I called him a Pekaso. Some day I will have another one like him. I hope.

You can use tweezers that aren't very sharp on the end to feed him his food. if you have ones that have rubber on the end that might be good. If he tries to bite you all the time, I guess it's cause he thinks you are food. Mine used to do that as well till he got the hint that I'm not food. Maybe try not to move things in front of him.....When they get bigger and you get bit, it hurts! Mine made me bleed! (little booger) So I started using tweezers to feed him...He doesn't bite when I hold him but when he's hungry, he really just wants to eat and bites anything.
Here is a link to a very nice caresheet as well if interested.

Hee, this is my Bingo, as a pup and as an adult (older pic taken a few years ago)! He's a little sheltie (shetland sheepdog), very tiny as he was the runt of his litter (only around 15lbs!), and he's quite the firecracker! He's got quite the sense of humor and is uber sweet, and though he's eleven, almost twelve in June, he's as hyper as when he was a pup! Poor guy's also an epileptic and has to take meds in the morning and at night, but he's a healthy, strong little guy that never ceases to amaze me!

Thanks for that... Shiloh definately rules the roost, so to speak. When I moved in with my fiancee (now hubby) I was scared that Jessie (Staffordshire terrier) would freak Shiloh out, but it's the exact opposite, Shiloh just has to look at Jess sideways (probably with a similar look to the previous photo) and she turns to mush... Poor puppy. So cute and fat though..

I'm still practicing with the new digital my son got me for Yule. Got these cute ones of Pouncy and Groucho this morning. For those who don't know the story, we had just gotten Pouncy fixed when we adopted Groucho. She thought he was her baby and nursed him until her milk-less nipples were bloody. Here she is playing Mama again, even though he's now bigger than she is, and the best I could do with trying to get a shot of her the other night. Groucho and Freyja are actually brother and sister from different litters. It's amazing how you can tell who's the boy and who's the girl. Flar thought his mustache looked like a big cigar because it's bigger on one side, so Groucho's the first name he thought of when I brought him home.

The other night my wife (Gebo) and I were eating dinner at a card table in the living room when my big boy nugged my arm....of course i shewed him away so I could eat (we're so much alike)...then I noticed him licking on the floor (nothing new). I paid him no attention untill we went over to my rocking chair and I hear somthing click...I turned to find that he had picked up a dime and was trying to give it to me. When I didnt accept it he gently place it on the wooden part of the chairs arm... I have such good babies...Even he is trying to save me money.

I can't believe it took me this long to look at all the pictures. Everyone has such adorable babies! :) I thought I would share a little picture of my sweet ones.
(Girl) Naja is the all grey one.
(Boy) Keiko is the grey and white one.
They are sister and brother. They will be two years old this next Samhain. :) I call them my little "Wiccan Kitties" because I got them on Samhain and tried to name them something unique. :heartthro They love to join me in my Circle and stuff.

I posted photos of the kitties a little while back; now I have a new baby to show off. Meet Java (named for the coffee, not the programming language!), my new Shetland Sheepdog (Sheltie) puppy. He's still just a little thing--about 10 weeks old.
what a cutey pie ... :hugz:

My boys! Ravyn, so named for the white bird shaped mark on his back. And Flash, the wolf hybrid(about a quarter), so named for the time he unplugged the TV with his teeth.

Also, after a long day outside, Java gets a bath from my friend who was visiting this week.

Everybody's animals are so lovely. I want to introduce you all to my beautiful baby cat named Toby. I love him so much :heartthro :loveduv: :bouncybob
In this pic he's going for a walk in our backyard. He's an indoor cat that goes for accompanied walks outside, that's why he's got a lead on.

Oh they are gorgeous!!!!!
Is it true they cannot be 'taught' to get along with cats? I've always wanted one, they are so beautiful.

It takes work but quite a few mal owners have cats too. I have two cats.
Malamutes have a tendency to have high prey drive. If the cats are part of the pack then the Mal will be fine with them. They will not necessarily be fine with cats not of their pack.
Teaching them the pack rules in regards to the cat(s) is the most important thing. Having baby gates to have areas where the cats can go but not the dogs is what I do. Kyri and Nanuk know that the cats are mine.
It's easiest when the Mal is a puppy. The puppy grows up knowing that the cat is part of the pack.
An adult rescue that was raised with cats can learn over time that the cats in the new pack are to be respected.
Some adult Mals that were never socialized with cats rarely learn to view the cat as anything other than prey.

Both my cats and the dogs are talkers. They all have something say all the time. All four of them are very opinionated too. :hehehehe:

Such beautiful malamutes! Every mal I've known has been both a talker and a "hugger." My sister-in-law's malamute, Martika, sings for her when she comes home. :)
And Selkie and Micah are gorgeous, too! I used to have a kitty that looked just like Micah, but he didn't get along with our other cat and my friend ended up adopting him from me. He's such a pretty cat.

I love those Mal's. I used to have a white one named Seneca. She got along with nobody. I had Huskies, mutts, and cats. My ninja kitties taught her how to respect cats!!!
Well, here is a pick of my daughter--she is a White German Shepard. She's elsewhere in the thread too.

Shiva, Max, and Hazel!

Hazel is picture number one. She is a four year old pit bull with fully cropped ears we got her mid Febuary. Max is picture number two he is a one year old pit bull my son found wandering in the street and we have since learned had been abused. Shiva is picture number three. I have no idea how old she is but she is an odd mix and so ugly she is cute. She is half shepard and half chauhau. No I am not kidding. She is just a bit bigger than a cat and is currently sleeping under my blankets while Max and Hazel are snoring outside my room. Normally they are all three hogging the bed so I have very little sleeping space but I am warm and well protected. Sometimes Max likes to sleep on the top bunk of my eldest sons bed. He uses the desk to climb up and down.

Ok i Just have to show my babies... They are father and son and they hate each other and have tried to kill each other. We have them seperated. Once when they were fighting I tried to stop them... stupid me, the father (Spot) then tried to kill me and since the son (Toby) is very loyal to me, he jumped on top of Spot and almost tore his leg off trying to get him off me. My then boyfriend pulled me out... and I tried to get back in, even with all my blood just gushing out. Anyway a few guys that were at my house got them off each other i was trying to hide all the blood from my grandmother (she has a heart problem) and smile everytime she would come near me.... Anyway, after all that i had just 3 bite marks and only one really bad one on my arm.
But I love them both to much to get rid of any one so we built a fence one side for Spot and the other one for Toby...
HAHAHA im sorry, just felt like talking...
Toby is the one thats sleeping
Ok im gonna shut up now

Both dogs are Australian Shepherds. The bathtime pics are most recent, but they're still from August, so Milo's a lot bigger and less puppy-like now. :) Polo's pretty much the same -- fat!

My boston terrier, Chi, has decided that when he gets hungry he will just sit on top of his food container. You can hear his little nails scratching on the plastic and sliding into the wall. He is just so cute, isn't he? :dinnertim The other picture is not very clear, but it is Chi and his great dane brother, Odin, playing soccer. Hope you enjoy!

VroomBroom, have I got a girlfriend for Spike! Actually two girlfriends, sisters no less! I have to completely black kitties (well, Jane has about four white hairs on her chest): Jane is sleek like Spike and her sister Emily is a lovely long-haired golden-eyed girl (she's so black that she even has black claws! The vet said these were rare, I don't really know.)
He's a handsome devil, your Spike!
Thanks for this pic!
