VroomBroom, have I got a girlfriend for Spike! Actually two girlfriends, sisters no less! I have to completely black kitties (well, Jane has about four white hairs on her chest): Jane is sleek like Spike and her sister Emily is a lovely long-haired golden-eyed girl (she's so black that she even has black claws! The vet said these were rare, I don't really know.)

Personally, my husband and I have 2 cats. One of them we rescued from the SPCA about 2 years ago. Her name is Snickers. She's actually my cat, as I got her before we were married. Our other cat, Felix, my husband got while he was in Japan quite a few years ago. He's a loveable old fella. He's about 6 years old, whereas snickers is 5.

Thanks, they are good boys; that corner of the counter top is their favorite place to snooze. I tried keeping them off it it, but have since given up on that. They are Borg, resistance is futile!

The cats just love laying on electronics and I have actually built shelves over things like my monitor and digital cable box to keep them from laying on top of them. They tried laying on the TV, but the back is REALLY slanted and slick so they can't lay on it.

WoW! That's old for a kitty! This one is only about 3 years old, and my boyfriend just happened to get her from the animal shelter a couple of weeks before Halloween. He gets irked (humerously) when I call her our Halloween kitty ever since I became a witch, and "yells" at me saying she's not my familiar. That's true, she more like my master, but when we had a spare room and I first started casting circles and meditating, she always suddenly wanted to be around me for those things. Poor little normal Christian :)

Hi all, I'm new to MW and wanted to introduce my babies to you. Oscar is a huge yellow lab, Katie is our yellow lab/boxer mix puppy, Hannah, Brett and Hari are our bunnies, Samantha and Shiva are our guinea pigs, and Ben is our cockatiel. My bf Ted and I love animals and work with ACME pet transport to help rescues and shelters transport homeless cats and dogs from out west to the NE. I am also the secretary of Northeast Pekingese rescue, so we're pretty busy with pets around here. lol. I can't wait to have our own home and be able to start fostering and maybe have our own little shelter. Maybe I can get this figured out and attach some pics of my babies later.

These are my two cats... one an SPCA rescue... the gray one with half a tail. The other is an Oriental Shorthair with one-eye (his sister scratched his eye when he was a baby and it became infected and subsequently had to be removed).

He doesn't know he has only one eye and his favorite past-time is irritating his cat sister and playing with his standard poodle brother (big size difference).

My other cat, the gray one... obviously loves to eat and is pretty much always in a bitchy mood... I nicknamed her Miss B*****, but I also spoil her rotten.

she is cute. i had a black cat once he was a stinker real evil and an instigator he actually treed one of our other cats and then mocked him as he was stuck in the tree, running up and down the tree all the way to the top and all the way to the bottom over and over again while (roofus poor thing) sat there wailing till my dad got a ladder and climed up and got him. (along with my other cat herbie who the pic is above yours) he looked like a mini panther he was so cool i miss him.

Actually each member of the family has its own, the grey cat called Nemo is my cat, the black one called Anacleto is my mothers cat, and the dog called Ricotta is my sisters dog... But actually they all sleep with me (i have a crowded room LOL) and w8 for me when i come home and so on... never actually understood why they decided i am the boss... but one day they will tell me I am sure.

rather unusual, I admit, but here's Achee, my little girl :hahugh:

She lives on a rescued animal sanctuary in South Africa, and I have her on lifetime adoption. Poor darling was rescued from Romania a couple of years back (the snow picture). She was taken from her mother when she was a few days old, to be used for tourist photographs :grrrrr: A member of the Cypriot consulate bought her when she was 6 weeks old, and for a few years he did his best for her. Eventually, it became clear that she was suffering, so he called the Born Free Foundation for help. Sadly, the malnutrition had taken hold; and she suffers from a growth defect, multiple neurological problems, osteoporosis, arthritis and poor balance. Seeing her staggering around with her head twitching from side to side is truely heartbreaking :wah2:

If I ever knowingly met that photographer who took her from her mother, I swear they'd get their karma... :grrrrr:

This is my cat, Cocoa who was found about a year ago at our local animal shelter. He was brought in by a neighbor of the original owners--the neighbor said the owners weren't feeding him or letting him indoors and he was sneaking into his cat-flap door and eating the kibbles left out for his 4 cats. This neighbor wanted to take Cocoa in but the other 4 cats didn't like him much at this point. So he called the owners and kept telling them to take care of their cat, and finally took him to the shelter and told them "If you want your cat then go get him." He'd been there almost 3 weeks. :(

Really, he actually is a deep cocoa-brown, it just didn't show up very well in any of the photos I've taken of him. And he's huge, he was only 8 pounds when I first got him... last weekend at his yearly checkup he was 14.5 pounds. I think my mom said that once she tried to measure him and from his nose to his tail he was somewhere close to 30 inches long. :holycow:

As far as I can tell he's an American Curl, his ears aren't curly enough to be in a cat show or anything but they're definitely not ordinary cat ears. Makes him look like he has cute little devil horns...

Here's my Hunter boo-bear! He's just over a year old. 3/4 Siberian Husky, 1/4 wolf. He's a total sweetie. He always cuddles me at night until he gets too warm, then he sleeps downstairs until he's cool again, and then comes back up to cuddle.

The first is my lovely girl, Tika. She's 10, and suspected Alaskan Malamute/Shepherd mix. Even at 10 she's got bounding energy! But she's the best companion in the world and I love her like a kindred spirit as much as like my own child. What can I say? I love this sweet dog so much I'd do almost anything to turn back her age... but I know better. So for now we give her good food, lots of love, and an aspirin a day. :lol: She's a Massachusetts SPCA doggie.

The second is Basha, my freaky cat. She's sweet when she wants to be but that's a rare thing! HA! Actually, we think she was driven a little "over the edge" (ahem) by being moved at the age of 2 months from a nice big Colorado Springs apartment to a paper wall tiny place in Boston. Now that we're back in her home state and in a nice house, she's really beginning to be a pleasant kitty. But she's always been that pretty. She was a forlorn gift to a friend who worked at a day care center who already had a cat, from one of the kids. Bad idea... just give teacher a magnet or a mug, kids...

Then there are a couple of pictures of them together on the rare occasions that they can manage not to chase or freak out each other.

The last picture is Laz (short for Lazy, but pronounced as if short for Lazarus). He came into our home after my hubby left his last job. A coworker had left Laz with hubby because he was the only one who actually liked and would help care for the fish. Well, hubby hated the job, and didn't want to leave Laz in the hands of the incompetent people who worked there, so when he got his new job, he brought Laz home. Laz is very playful and interactive, but he seems to want to mate with my thumb--he blows his bubble nest bigger every time I feed him! :lol: He likes to wiggle in front of the glass when it's time for breakfast or when he wants attention. Whoever said fish don't make good pets never had a betta! (Actually, I've always loved fish companions... I just couldn't have a tank for a long time and don't have much time to keep one clean now.)

My felines

Fritzy ~ the hubby found him as a stray before we met. His favorite human is our son and he is about 16 years old. He is the undispute patriarch of the feline set. Has the pup firmly in hand and Hera and Celtic and he are often curled up together He and Touchdown do not get along very well. Ad he is the only one of the animals Touchdown doesn't go bitch cat on.

Celtic ~ someone dumped her when she was maybe 6 months. She followed my son home New Year's three years ago. We let her in and no one claimed her from postings we did so we kept her. She also picked her name. I wrote the four names out and crumpled them in balls. The one with the name Celtic is the one she batted out and played with. She also likes to roll around in pinesol residue after we have cleaned something.

Touchdown ~ my husband brought her home 12 years ago from the Humane Society. She thinks the bed is hers and has a habit of licking and being a complete snuggler. We can't escape her. She is very attached to the husband. She must be about 13 now. Someone left her on the doorstep of the Humane Society. She is also known as "douchebag" as she can be very ornery if she wants.

Hera ~ I found her in the country. She was born to a barn cat at these stables we used to go to. Now the cats out there didn't live long and I rather liked her. She was very coy though. She would meow at you to pet her and then charge out of reach and meow at you again. Such a tease. One day, she had been weaned for about a month she let me catch her. I sat with her in the car and she was a perfect angel. Took her home. She's been my buddy since. I like to say she picked me.

Want one? There's this cute cat that comes around (I call him Squeakers) that I feed. Brian won't let me let him in for some reason. Says animals all over know where the pushover lives. A neighbor a few doors down always knows where to find her pooch if he makes a break for it. He comes over here and paws at the door to get a milkbone. <rolls her eyes> That started when I was home sick one day and he had somehow gotten out of the fenced area she has. So I chained him and fed him and when she got home took his tail wagging, escape artist person home.

This is Riley. He did this to himself. I was working and he came up and bumped me and when I looked down to see what he had done, it was all I could do not to laugh...and grab the camera!
He has OCD, and had to wear a Victorian collar for quite some time, so all I can figure is that he wasn't at all alarmed by having something like that around his neck.
I (naturally) removed the toy right after I took the picture.


The other picture is Jack Daniels. He is a rescued Beagle/Doberman and is 12 years old. Wonderful dawg!!! LOVES cats and PURRS like one!
