View Full Version : 12-card readings

Hi, as I normally do 12-card readings, would anyone like a 12-house reading (covers all the major areas of your life) or a month-by-month 2003 reading?
I have enough time to do about 10, 5 on the 29th, and the rest on the 1st.
Edited to say - could you please let me know which of the two different types of reading you want?

Although, I'm not familiar with the one with the houses...Is that like with astrology? :)

Yes, Silver Alhena, I would like to sign up for a 12-house reading since i have never had one done before and find the books all say something different about how exactly one goes about doing this reading. I will gladly leave this up to you. Just PM me with what info you would need. Will you be posting the results or doing them privately?

I'd love a 12-house reading - but like the others - I'm not familar with it. Perhaps you'd fill us in sometime?
There's lots going on with us - Hubby's promotion, Hubby being appointed to a certain position, purchasing property and a home, the horses - as guidance for competing again - which of course means I need a truck and trailor - am I kidding myself? My kids? Health? Do you need to know more?
Since I dont' know about the 12-house, if you need to narrow this down that's OK - or maybe it's a general thing? I'm so excited!

I'd love a 12 house reading please.

The method is pretty simple - 12 cards, one for each area of your life, and yes, it is based on the 12 Astrological houses.
The different cards are: Yourself as you see yourself/others see you
Money and possessions
Siblings/commnications/short forms of transport
The home, esp the Mother's influence
Creativity/children
Work/health
Personal Partnerships
Official money (like IRS, wills) regeneration/transformation
'Expanding horizons' - teaching/learning/travel
Ideals/groups/societies/membership
Hidden factors
Despite the number of different factors, there are usually crossovers between 3 or 4 cards, so it is best to read cards 3 and 5 last.
Okay so far I have:
29th Dec
Mithrea
Flaire
Tarotbear
Witchy Cowgirl
Kaya
And it's entirely up to yourselves whether the reading is posted or PMed, however, unless anyone states otherwise, I'll PM the readings.

Oh! Please add me to your list if you still have room! I was planning on doing a 12-month reading for myself for the new year but would love another perspective too! Please let me know if you need any more info....otherwise, just a general "how the year will go" reading would be great. :)

Due to the downtime today i haven't had time to PM everyone. My flatmate was on most of the evening, and it's now midnight here. I have work tomorrow so I really have to get some sleep!
I've done the readings, have PMed Mithrea, Flaire and Tarotbear.
Kaya and Witchy Cowgirl will get theirs tomorrow when I get in!
Wildchild- that is fine, I can do your year-ahead reading on the 1st!

Kaya and Witchy Cowgirl have their readings now.
Okay, on the 1st I have:__\
Dagda Moon-Lily_________\ All Year-ahead
WildChild ______________/ Readings
MoonOwl______________/
I could still do about another 2 of either type, and providing there are no more server downers, followed immediatly by my flatmate hogging the comp for hours, I'll have them posted on the 1st. :)

...I'd love to have one! The 12-houses one sounds intriguing. I have lots on my plate...am concerned about our lease on our home that ends this year; my husband's health (not doing well at present), our children and possible international travel (both for family and me alone).
Thanks in advance! You're awesome to do this!

...this is somewhat, well, ok, really off topic, but I was wondering, how much accuracy do you have when reading for people you've never met, some of whom you haven't even conversed with? I've never tried it, so I really don't know, but a lot of the tarot fanatics that I know insist that the deck must be touched by the querant in order for the reading to be accurate... obviously that is impossible, so do you have another method of focusing on a particular querant?

When you lay out the cards for this spread, what shape does it make?
(Thanks, Witchy, for the links! Very helpful!)
Lavender
January 3rd, 2003, 12:42 PM
The ones I've seen are usually laid out in a circle. The significator is in the middle, card #1 is at the 9 o'clock position with the rest of the cards laid out respectively counterclockwise until all 12 cards are laid out. Card 13 (if you want) is in the centre on top of the significator.
I've also seen yearly spreads that are laid out in a square, spiraling into the centre.

I don't know how Silver Althena does it, but I would lay it out in a circle:
...........................4
..................3.................5
..........2.................................6
...1...............................................7
..........12................................8
.................11.................9
...........................10
something like that. :D
I personally would add a 13th card and place it in the middle as a "summary" type card....or an overall overview. :D
tarotbear
January 3rd, 2003, 12:50 PM
My explanation is that the 12 cards are laid out like the numbers on a clock, NOT radiating out from the center like spokes in a wheel. If they did, how would you know which cards are reversed?

I think this is laid out like the Zodiac Wheel is in regards to it's houses. I could be wrong though. ;)

No, you're not missing one, I'd missed out career/ambition, which should be between 'expanding horizons' and 'ideals/groups/societies.' Doh!
Glad someone is eagle-eyed!
The layout Dagda has illustrated is exactly the one I use, and thanks for the suggestion of a 13th card.
Also, although I'd always referred to the spread as the 'horoscope spread,' I'd never twigged about the star sign correspondance. *smacks forehead* This is really going to help from now on, as I have found the 3rd, 5th, and 8th cards at times to be tricky to interpret - thanks again!
(Dagda - have you thought of starting the Tarot Techie helpdesk? :D)
As you can tell, I 'm still learning, but if anyone wants to try a 12-card reading for someone, you will normally find that several cards are similar, or refer to each other. Any situation does not affect just one area of our lives, and major factors will have knock-on effects elsewhere. Year-ahead readings usually have periods of 2-4 months where you see a continuation of one theme from one month to the next.

I haven't forgottenabout the rest of the readings for the 4 who are still waiting:
It's been hectic at work since I went back on the second. Leave has been cancelled, I've been doing 4 days on, 1 day off, 4 days on, and so many staff are off sick in our section that we've been working mega-hard in our group of 10 to clear over 2000 cases... more get added every day and I'm so shattered trying to study as well.
I have a 'rest day' Wednesday, and will do the readings then...providing I actually HAVE a rest day!
