Time to share your new decks, people! :D

I got the Fortune Teller's Deck & I'm so excited. It looks like a regular playing card deck with the suits in spades, hearts, diamonds, & clubs. The court cards are more stylized, though.

I bought my Boyfriend the Sacred Geometry oracle deck. It's beautiful O.o and seemed to suit him really well. He's happy with it, which is of course thrilling for me.

Wildchild:
How do you like that deck? That's the next one I'm going to get, as reading playing cards is all I do and I'd like to see the perspective on them. Did you get the deck and book? Tell me more!

Thanks,
Zaniah

I got two new decks, the Cosmic Tribe tarot, and the Decameron tarot, both of which display a lot of flesh.

The Cosmic Tribe tarot caused quite a stir and it's own discussion thread on another forum. Every human in the deck is naked, and there are a majority of naked males in the deck. Someone suggested it is a 'gay' deck, but the mere abundance of dick does not necessarily make this a gay deck. Very creative, but I think the descriptions in the book get a little 'artsy'. All the people in this deck are real.

The Decameron tarot is an extended version of a previous deck, imagery based on Boccaccio's The Decameron, a lusty book that was banned, along with Boccaccio, by the Medieval church. Supposedly they are images from the stories, but most cards depict a couple happily engaged in some form or degree of copulation. The LWB does not tell you which story inspired the card. Sometimes the image has nothing to do with the meaning of the card. Since most are engaged in 'insertive sex' - this is not a deck for children...or prudes. One does wonder how the Knights can ride their steed and a beautiful maiden and not slide out of the saddle!

I got the lord of the rings oracle deck. I tried not to gigle too hard as my sweetie thought I would like it. It turns out it's a little more than a game playing deck and can be used for divination but the methods outlined in the hand book that was included seem a bit involved for me. It is a very pretty deck none the less.

I got the book and the deck as a set. It feels different from my tarot decks and certainly very different from regular playing cards. I love the artwork on the court cards. The book is great that she gives the keywords to each cards as well as her interpretations. That way, you can easily glance through & form your own interpretations. But if you've been reading with playing cards, you would not need her book. I like the spreads she uses. Most of them I've never seen before...not that I know that many! :D I wish she had gone into more details about the history of the spreads, though. One thing she does stress is that these cards are not playing cards & should not be used as such. I kinda wondered if that was why I never took to reading with playing cards before. So far, all I've done is to cleanse them & did a quick reading with them. I'm looking forward to trying them out further.

I have the Decameron, love it. I just might have to get the Cosmic Tribe Tarot. And the Manara Erotic Tarot is on my wish list.

My take on it has always been that playing solitaire is fine, if not encouraged to some point, though playing games with others is not. Solitaire helps to put your energies into the cards. I stumbled upon PlayingCards at the end of my search through what seems like a hundred types of divination until they found me. They're where my talent lies, and my preference. I collect decks of every kind and read with all of them. I have a huge chunk of my website devoted to them, with combinations, meanings as I've learned them, etc, and post all my readings online (http://members.rogers.com/analae/insight.html).
I have the set on order and will pick them up in a couple of weeks. I'm really interested to see her take on things in comparison to how I've developed them myself.
New spreads are always a fascination of mine too. :D I tend to adapt all sorts of tarot spreads to them, and find it works very well. Of course I can't use spreads that are devoted to the Major Arcana or utilize all 78 cards, but I can modify or use them as inspiration. A lot of the spreads here on MW are part of my everyday collection. I always have at least one deck on me (whichever feels right that day) to shuffle if I'm fidgety or to read for myself or someone else if the opportunity arises. I really believe that they're my divinatory calling. :)

Zaniah, I just visited your site & copied out the meanings of the cards...I hope you don't mind. :) This is something I think I could really get into. I think I'd better start a new thread on playing card reading and such.

Funny enough, this deck wasn't my first choice but I'm so glad I got this one instead of the other.

Not at all. I had hoped someone would find the information worthwhile.
Ooh, start a new thread. I'm all over that. I look over this one and realise that it's really off-topic :P
I bought myself a $5 new deck. THat's my christmas present to me. Regular cards, with a nifty motif.

Hi everyone, I'm intrigued with the discussion about the Cosmic Tribe Tarot and the Decameron Tarot. I'm an extreme-newbie to this skill, and liked the preview I saw of the Cosmic Tribe Tarot right away! So evocative! So dreamlike! My daughter uses the Ridder-Waite(?) deck, and personally I've felt it was overly 'tidy' and too sexually cleaned-up. Felt like it lacked some juice....so I'd like to know: where to preview/find the Decameron Tarot? I know about the www.aeclectic.net/tarot site.....where else? Thanks! and Happy New Year!

I have been wanting to learn tarot and I bought my first deck yesterday...well one that is practical for use. It's the Goddess Tarot deck by artist Kris Waldherr, http://learntarot.com/godesc.htm I own the Tarot Nova mini deck, but it has no practical uses except as a novelty item. ;) When I took the deck out of the box, it felt right. I'm happy with the deck. After I get some practice and feel comfortable with tarot, I would like to get the Sacred Circle deck next. http://learntarot.com/godesc.htm

The goddess tarot is still my favourite and the one I use the most. I love the feel and the energies of these cards. I have several other decks I use from time to time but I always come back to the Goddess tarot.

The Decameron Tarot is an Italian 'Lo Scarabeo" deck curently distributed through Llewellyn. You could try a search, or try www.llewellyn.com or try www.alidastore.com but you have to click on the English 'button' at Alidastore.

Goddess Tarot website (http://goddesstarot.com/) It didn't take me long to start learning to interpret the cards...and you're right about the feel of the energies of the cards. They just feel right.
