ok I'm way confused about the whole visualization thing. I've read so many things I'm not sure if I'm doing it right. Is it similar to daydreaming? Do you have to be in a deep meditative state to do it? How clear should it be? I read in one book that it's like your right there in the vision but I can't even get close.
Also, I've read about Alpha. I know visualization is necessary(I think) to do effective magick, but what if one has a hard time with it. help!

Here's a thread that has a link that might help:

It took over a year for me to be able to visualize. I made my attempts through meditation. At first I got nothing. Then I began seeing colors, and finally, pictures. I've had some pretty incredible journeys. It helped that I was able to participate in a lot of guided group meditations.

In my case, daydreaming would be a form of visualization.. I daydream a lot and often times what I'm daydreaming about comes true..

Unfortunatelly sometimes the "thing" that I'm daydreaming about shouldn't be in any way brought to me (just left in a dreams), but it does and than problems start.. And that's the part that I'm trying to learn how to control..

Here, I'll try to answer your questions directly and succinctly :)

Yes exactly like that.

Nope but it can help to be meditating or at least in a relaxed and quiet state with eyes closed and preferably little light if any at all.

I don't agree with your book, at least not at first. There are exercises and such here (freyja probably gave you a link to some) that help you out, but especially in the beginning it'll be more like daydreaming. You'll want to try with simple stuff and practice daily. Visualization is often a key technique for magical work.

There are some who don't work in a visual way as much - I believe Jenett is like that and has posted here about it. You don't have to use visualization in terms of seeing something to make magic work, though it's the most effective way for a lot of people.

Hey, I usually daydream while I'm criuising with my car outside of the city.. (on a wonderful road that leads through valleys and forests).

Sometimes I meditate as well, but the previous one works a lot better for me..

Here's a site with some visualization exercises that might help, too:

I agree with Raevyn that visualization isn't absolutely necessary to make your magick work - and I'm proof of that because I wasn't able to do that for a long time. Most of the time, I have been in a meditative state when I visualized, but I have also tranced out while driving and have visualized in a daydreaming state.
