That cop punches like a 3 year old.
That said, WHAT AN IDIOT. How do you not know you're carrying a camera in your ****in' patrol car?

Yeah I thought his punches were pretty pathetic considering.
CNN said he claims to have PTSD from the war and doesn't remember punching the guy.

I find that hard to believe - the psych evaluations that law enforcement officers have to go through before they are hired are insane - at least here they are.

Yeah I think PTSD is probably just an excuse.
I know your SO is a cop, isn't he? What does he think?

He used to be a deputy sheriff for our county, but left the department a couple of years ago because he couldn't stand it. He's not home at the moment (nor am I), so I can't ask him, but I will say that I understand why cops "snap" from time to time.
They are overworked, underpaid, have their hands tied by red tape constantly, and they're supposed to be the ones on the "front lines" keeping everyone safe. They hear it all and deal with the worst of society on a regular basis, and actually have much less "power" than people think they have, due to said red tape.
My SO left his department for exactly those reasons... why should he risk his life and deal with shit on a daily basis for $40,000.00 a year, when he can go to a similar field with fewer rules, fewer hours, less risk, and make more than twice that amount.
This cop's behavior was inexcusable, for sure, and I'm not condoning it in any way, but I do understand why "good cops go bad" so to speak.

Somehow I've managed to refrain from punching people while struggling with my PTSD.

Wait what? Police brutality and we're surprised?
It happens all the time, this huger just happened to get caught on tape.
That being said, sometimes I feel like punching someone too.

I don't think its as common as some people like to think though. And there's a difference between knowing it occurs and actually watching it occur, at least for me.

I have some old friends "in the know" I've heard some stories...
You do have a point though, sometimes seeing it is more powerful.

Not too uncommon to see where I grew up but then again, I grew up in Detroit. LOL

Repeatedly punching a handcuffed and harmless man already in custody is not excusable behavior for a police officer, and to then claim PTSD as an excuse is even more inexcusable.
Now, I understand police have a hard time and are under-appreciated, but that is no excuse either. If you've got such issues that you can punch on a guy just for trying to get your attention and you're irritated and then claim PTSD you shouldn't be a cop.
Unfortunately part of what makes the police force so under-appreciated and distrusted is dickheads like this guy.
There are a lot of wonderful, dedicated and caring cops out there, but as is in this world, the asshats are shown more and makes you jump to conclusions.
I have a friend from America who once got arrested. He made no resistance, but after they handcuffed him and as they were putting him in the car they deliberately smashed his head against the top edge of the door frame. He bled profusely. They took a mugshot and put him and his friend in a cell, after which they put my friends bloody mugshot up on the wall for him to look at all night, while laughing their butts off.
But then there's also nice police officers that will let things slide, think you're cute for trying to dissuade a fight between two guys by feeding them french fries and then thank you for keeping your cool, and let the guys walk away since it never came to punches.
There are all kinds of people in the police force, some bad, some good, and some have no business being there.
