Shuffling the odd shaped deck.

I got a deck for Yule that is about 3in.x2.5in. They are almost square and so short they don't bend so I'm having a lot of trouble shuffling them.

I wonder how everyone shuffles round decks and those really small decks. Is there a trick to it or do you just do the best you can? :D

I don't know about a trick to it. The lady in New Orleans who read for my sis-in-law used two decks and one was a small round shaped deck. They were very worn which I thought was neat. Anyway, she just shuffled and shuffled those things like nothing so I'd say it just takes practice and breaking them in.

The are heavily lacquered cards. I don't think I *want* to break them in. Heh. Heh. ;) They're too pretty!

Motherpeace is round, it's a challenge! I shuffle them like any other deck and can even fan them, but I didn't think I'd be able to do that - especially since I own the large-sized one (After I bought it I found out that there is a smaller size available)

Try spreading them out on a table and mixing them around and then put them back together. You'll get a good bit of reversed cards that way too. I had a deck that was almost square and nearly impossible to shuffle, that's how I mixed them up.

MO I don't really think I understand the push/put directions :(

I could try the scramble but the problem is I read on my bed so it's all a bit trickier and I also don't read reversed cards so I'd have to be really careful. I know. I'm a pain. ;)

Here's how I do the push-put method.
holding them face down in my left hand I use the thumb of my right hand and push a few off....
then with my right hand I pull a few of the bottom and put them on top of the ones I just pushed off....
I continue with this untill I'm through with all the cards in my left hand.

Shuffle till they feel right.:)

I do what I call the ma-jong shuffle. I place the cards faced down and start scrambling them. You mix them up with both hands until all the cards are mixed. It does turn your cards all different directions but if you're not reading reverse, can you just turn them right side up when you flip them over? I'm really bad at shuffling the regular way. I can't shuffle a deck of playing cards...let alone an odd size tarot deck! :rolleyes:
