now im sorry but when i heard that my beloved Richard Harris had passed i was devastated!
he IS Dumbledore to me. not doubt.
i was puzzeled as too how they could continue the rest of the movies without him.... but i must say if i had to pick someone to fill his shoes it would be this man...
the other day my mom was reading the paper and she told me that the makers of the Harry Potter movie have chosen Sir Ian McKellen (a.k.a. Gandalf) to be in the next 2 movies...
if i had to choose anyone it would be him, though no one can TRULY replace Richard Harris's gentleness and grace...im sure Ian will do a fine job.
what do you all think?

Honestly, I'd say that's highly unlikely--and it's definitely not "official." If it were, I'd be able to find confirmation on Google or IMDb and I can't. Since PoA is still in early preproduction and just recently finally got the director actually secured, I doubt they've made any decisions on casting yet and I doubt that they would cast Ian McKellen for the part.
Coming off of LotR, that would be very weird for people and probably be a big mistake. Everyone is going to be sitting in the theater saying . . . Why is Gandalf in PoA? Especially after they get him done up in the white beard again.
Incidentally, this isn't the first time Ian McKellan has been rumored for the part. It was McKellan's people that originally released the information that he was not playing the part, but that Harris was.

I'm still not going to believe it until WB announces it officially. I've learned that lesson well, especially with HP.
I think it's a bad mistake. I think he's really got his work cut out for him.

I heard they choose Ian McKellen, but they'd orginally wanted Christopher Lee and he said no. 8O
They've got the rumor mill working overtime on this one! :ahhhh:
As long as the guy looks good in the makeup and can play the part well, I don't really care who they choose.
