Even though I'm not Christian, I've really been interested in the Desert Fathers since I first heard about them, and was wondering where I could learn more about them, like are there any good books and sites on them?, I'm particularly interested in their practices, their sayings, teachings, the goal that they were aiming for, etc.

Thanks for any help :).

I had an obsession with deserts a few years ago (still fascinated with them) and due to that came across the desert spirituality. There's some great stuff there, I think.

* Thomas Merton's The Wisdom of the Desert
* a translation of Historia Monachorum in Aegypte
* a translation of the Apophthegmata Patrum

These are primers, I'd say. =) I think Eastern Orthodoxy also has a compilation called the Love of Beauty or Love of the Beautiful or something like that.

I applaud your interest in the Fathers. Like a good Catholic, I strongly believe the saints and the blessed intercede on our behalf from above. Perhaps the Fathers, when in the Presence of our Lord, have an interest in you. =)
