It's been over a week since both Mars and Chiron moved retrograde in
their apparent motion as seen from Earth. While astrologers are
aware that the planets aren't literally moving backward, their effect
is so remarkable that astrologers call this period "retrograde" as a
short way of speaking about this time period.
What does all this mean? Mars is the planet of war, competition,
fighting, physicality, athletics, sexuality, aggression, surgery and
so forth. When Mars is retrograde by transit, as it is from now
through July 19th, Mars ruled things do not go "as expected."
Specifically, astrologers warn clients, as I am now warning you, to
avoid these things: Having sex for the first time with a new
partner. Buying a car. Buying heavy equipment, anything that would
be the machine equivalent of "muscular" such as trucks, tractors,
fork-loaders, and so forth. (But not items that are "thinking"
machines, such as phones, computers and copiers, which are Mercury
ruled.) Having elective surgery. Taking unnecessary risks.
Beginning any Mars profession, such as joining the Army, an athletic
team, becoming a race car driver, mountain climbing, anything that is
physical and puts your life at risk.
More generally Mars has to do with violence and acts of war. So
anyone initiating violence or an act of war will eventually loose.

Chiron, the planetoid that symbolizes alternative healing, health
issues, and woundedness, is also retrograde and both Mars and Chiron
are conjunct in the last degrees of the sign Sagittarius. Given
their relatively slow motion, this Mars-Chiron conjunction will last
for weeks. When we blend the meanings of Mars with Chiron and the
sign Sagittarius, we have issues involving belief systems (Sag), old
wounds (Chiron), and fighting. While simplistic, this indicates
exactly what is happening in the Middle East right now! I encourage
our collective healing efforts to resolve the Israel-Palestine
dilemma, and for all other "old" issues.

advanced to get sucked into revenge games, right? Be aware that lots
of people are more aggressive than usual and that there is a general
tendency for people to want to "pick a fight." You will gain more by
being aware of this tendency and to avoid catalyzing anyone's
