I am not pagan or wiccan but I sometimes wonder if I have a natural ability as an empath. It is not something I focus on or that I am even aware of but I have a tendency to be really affected by other people's moods, and feelings. Once they calm down i calm down I'm just really sensitive to the environment around me. I am extroverted but I always need alone time after social situations to regroup. Also when I see or hear of people experiencing pain I feel a weird pain pulse through my body starting in my core and radiating all over my body just under the skin. It is a crazy phanomanon, I find it weird that it is not just in the spot where the person experienced the pain. It is a bit over whelming and it makes me a little sick to my stomach sometimes to the point where I don't allow people to tell me about their injuries. Are these something an empath would experience? I really was just curious if it is a trait or if I just have a very sensitive nervous system.

Both are possible. What you describe sounds very much like you are an empath. There is also a possibility that you have a neurological condition called Synsethesia, about which you can find some information here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synesthesia).

I may try and move this thread to the psychics and sensitives forum in which you will find a lot more threads and info about empathy and empaths (follow the link in my signature).

In the beginning phases of recognizing empathic abilities yes.

Wether or not said things will discontinue I will tell you full on that they won't.

Not only can an empath tell when someone is having a bad day or they become a little emotionally unglued when everyone else seems to be- but it's been my experience with my empathic gift that when others I know or I am very close to are in pain or un-well- I feel it as well.

I'll give you a good example here:

I Have been the best of friends with a woman in her early 50s. She is like a mother to me and has been the kindest soul I have ever come to know beyond having moved to Iowa 6 to almost 7 years ago. we have a very strong bond of friendship.

For the last almost two years now- she has been enduring breast cancer and has been taking on Chemo and several surgeries.

I have always known when she's been un-well after Chemo and I have also always known that she has been tired and sore from surgery. As she endures her proceedures and the side effects- in very indescrbibale ways- so do I. I know where she pains and I know how she ails and as she does her best to calm her aches and ailments- so do I.

She could have a head ache- my back would hurt- she could have an irritated stomach- my acid reflux would rise up- she could have pain from her incisions- my chest would start hurting- she could start feeling a little dizzy and feel like laying down for a little while and my knees would start sreaming the minute I wanted to stand up from where I was sitting. It just goes on like that.

The funny thing about it all though is that my friend doesn't know about my talents and gifts and she also doesn't know about what I practice. I too have a few small faults which I live with- with relative ease- but the empathic ability can sometimes be a hard gift to bear with. My friend is having surgery again in July and once again I too will feel her pain. Which area will scream or ail- I don't yet know because it's always random- but this is the stone I carry and over time I've just learned to use and live with.

Missy.
