View Full Version : What to do about an old curse on me?

About 25 years ago, a witch (or someone claiming to be one) said she cursed me. I haven't thought about it much in the last 20 years or so, but now I'm wondering... do these things kind of fizzle out on their own, or should I be doing something about it?
At the time I didn't believe in curses, but now I'm not so sure. ;)

Well if it's been 25 years and you haven't notice anything you can probably safely assume there's nothing to worry about. She was likely lying about being a witch or being able to curse, or just had no power. Personally I wouldn't give it a second thought.

I agree with Raevyn..
If there was a curse, you would noticed it in one way or another especially in the time span of 20 years!!!

Whether or not there was a curse made, the only way a curse can have power is if one gives it power.

I agree with all the above, but if you are feeling uncomfortable, there is nothing wrong with doing a self cleansing ritual, or a space cleansing ritual.

Well, my life hasn't exactly gone according to plan (whose has?), but some things have gone especially bad in the last 20 years... mostly money and health.... well, actually they're related. I was misdiagnosed for so many years, that when they finally found out what was wrong with me (cervical spondylosis aka degenerative disk disease), it was too late to file for SSI as I hadn't had enough income in the prior 5 years to qualify.
It was a long series of many things that went wrong... enough so that when I thought of that curse a few weeks ago, it made me think that perhaps it was working on me.
So... for peace of mind if nothing else... how would I go about reversing this curse?
Thanks, Mad Moya

There are spells and rituals for reversing curses, so I'd do some research to find one if you feel it's necessary. You could also adapt any banishing ritual, or even simply burn a black candle at the waning moon that represents the curse. Often, rituals aren't absolutely necessary but do make us feel better and therein lies their power.
I'd also suggest doing whatever you can to change your thoughts regarding this. Maybe this will help - nobody put a curse on me, and I had a similar experience with spondylolisthesis - I was not only misdiagnosed but also told I was neurotic for nine years and no one wanted to do anything until my foot was paralyzed and all of the nerve and muscle to my leg totally disintegrated. I finally had a spinal fusion and got about 70 percent of it back, when the neurosurgeon didn't think it would come back at all - and this was due to a positive attitude, a refusal to let this ruin my life and faith in the Mother.
I also had numerous other obstacles and challenges in a twenty year period that I not only survived but became a better person for. Sure, I'd rather have not gone through them but they are what brought me to where I am now, and it's a pretty cool place :)

Freyja, they said you were neurotic? They told me I had Fibromylagia, and from what my current Rheumie told me, the one that diagnosed me with it didn't even believe in it! You'd think just one of them in all that time (10 years) would have ordered x-rays... sigh. I'm just glad I found a rheumie I could talk to and and equally receptive neurosurgeon. Most of my degeneration is in my neck, which is why I can't do the work I was so good at... my hands don't work right, and who wants an accountant who can't use the 10-key? :)
I think what would work for me would to burn a green candle for healing, and a white one for purifying, while I meditate on the curse and the pain... since part of me still thinks they're related. At least that's what my inner self seems to think!
Thanks again, Mad Moya

Just thought some of you would appreciate an update!
I've managed to conquer the curse, or the fear of it anyway, which I guess is the same thing. Meditation helped quite a bit. But the day after the first meditation, I felt horrible... my stomach was cramped all day as if I'd done some extremely heavy lifting... kind of weird, huh?
I'm also meditating more in general, and asking my recent ancestors (Mom, Nana and Auntie Emma to be specific) for their help with the pain. I talk to them, and while I'm not sure they're listening, I do think they are close by.
My hubby is even getting used to the incense burning on and off throughout the day. I stumped him yesterday though when I put some essential oils on my neck (containing birch), and he couldn't figure out what kind of incense that was!
Thanks! Mad Moya

In the Northern Way, one doesn't really pray to the Gods/desses for succor, but to the Disir (plural, singular is Idis), which is one's female line of ancestors (ancestresses?), all the way back to the beginning... sounds like you do much the same...
PS. Congratulations on breaking the curse, that's terrific news!
