Hello,
This will be my first post in the Pagan community (maybe I'll frame it).

I have two quick questions:

1. Is the "Seekers Bill of Rights" actual legislature / written law, or is it merely to be taken as a general 'creed' to follow. I ask this because I have not been able to find, in writing, that the bill is actuall law.

2. On a post, under the user's name there is a place where some people have things written like "my cat owns me" ect. What section is this called. I would like to put something here, but I cannot seem to find it (it isn't the signature, is it?) It currently reads "neophyte" in this location.

Thank You,
Stephan

Welcome! :wave:

To answer your second question.... If you go to PROFILE, then EDIT PROFILE, scroll to CUSTOM USER TEXT. There you can put whatever you'd like there. (Just keep the RESET button unchecked)

To answer your first question, as far as I know, in Canada, it's not "actual legislature / written law". I don't know about anywhere else, though. I see it as a guideline for new seekers to help them sort things out when looking for teachers, etc.

Doesn't the charter of rights protect people who wish to practice rituals that may clash with "social norms"?

1. The Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees the rights and freedoms set out in it subject only to such reasonable limits prescribed by law as can be demonstrably justified and a free and democratic society.

2. Everyone has the following fundamental freedoms:
a. freedom of conscience and religion;
b. freedom of thought, belief, opinion and expression, including freedom of the press and other media of communication;
c. freedom of peaceful assembly; and
d. freedom of association.

This is part of the 1982 version of the Canuck constitution and is the legislation that allows wicca and paganism the freedom to be practised. As for rituals and whatnot in Canada... if they can't prove that your ritual is infringing on thier personal freedoms, they can't prevent it.
