I keep envisioning a goddess who is in the clouds of a magnificent sunset. She is surrounded in brilliant violet and pink colors, and she has sparkling eyes. The wind seems to be blowing through her hair. Unfortunately, I don't seem to be getting any names or anything. Is there any goddess that this could be?? I've tried looking everywhere and I can't seem to find anything even remotely similar.

maybe She is a "crone" figure of a Solar Goddess (if that's even possible) cause.. sunrise could be thought of as the Maiden, noon as the Mother, and sunset as the Crown. I'll look for some Goddesses that could fit that description today at school for you.

Thank you so much for your help. :) It does make sense about her possibly being a "crone" goddess. She seems very maternal, almost in a grandmotherly way. I'll see if I can find some more information on Akusaa online.

The only sunset goddess whom I have heard of is Akusaa. Sadly, there is not much info on this Egyptian goddess. I really liked FaerySong's suggestion about it possibly being the crone aspect of the goddess. Clever.
Your vision sounds lovely. Are you sure that the goddess was a goddess of the sunset? Maybe she was just a powerful sun, sky or earth goddess. Or perhaps she was a mother goddess who was looking after you from above.

You may want to consider Hespera or Hesperide. The notes I have say She is a Greek Goddess of Dusk/Sunset. In THE ENCYCLOPEDIA OF MYTHOLOGY by Eric Flaum, it states that She may be another manisfestation of Eos, the Goddess of Dawn. Patricia Monaghan says in THE NEW BOOK OF GODDESSES AND HEROINES that Eos changed into Hemera (the light of day) at midday and into Hesperide at sunset.
I also have info that the Hesperides were the maidens who guarded the tree with the golden apples on an island in the extreme west. Their number varied. One of their names was Hespera or Hesperia. They were considered very beautiful and thought to sing wonderfully. There was also a dragon on the island that helped to guard the apples. Hespera means "evening, west". The golden apple tree was considered very valuable and was given to Hera, upon Her marriage to Zeus, from Gaia--the Greek Mother Earth.
