I think this is old news, but I also think it has to do simplistic stereotypes, cheap rhetoric and the choice to accept hearsay reather than do any research. Nothing impresses me less.

The flip side is that as soon as you ban something, an amazing number of people go out of their way to find out why, so it may produce an abundance of kids going out of their way to find out more about the modern Pagan movement.

That's probably not what was intended, but it certainly is the lesson of history.

*nods* Been going on for awhile (probably a thread or two in pagan geek or political) but something that's always on our minds.

I used to get angry about it, but then I thought of it this way - I have every right to talk about being Pagan, to share info about it, and to learn about it. At the same time, every parent has the right not to talk about it, read about it, or learn about it, and to raise their kids as they see fit. It's unfortunate that they are ignorant about what Paganism is really about, but it's their prerogative to choose what they will and won't expose their kids to.

It's not my right to raise other people's children, or to specify what they can expose their kids to, though I am able to help them understand if they want to know. I *will* get the word out about what Paganism is really about to those who want to know. Ultimately though it's only my responsibility to raise my kids as I see fit, so I choose to use or not use the software.

I'm sure there are some 'suits' somewhere having meetings and forming new and shiny committees to deal with future life choices...don't you think?

Too bad these control freaks don't know "Hestia" for example - eh?
hehehe

Perhaps I found this incredibly stupid and "big brother' kind of data so that I might appreciate even More my own life and the fact that my three girls have been raised So differently.
(whew - sigh)
