Here we go again. This Thursday the Isle of Wight in Hampton Roads, Virginia is having a religous celebration called "The Gathering of Tribes." According to News Channel 3, wtkr.com, Wiccans/Pagans were asked not to participate, and there has been much protesting over pagan participation. The news caster said "They supposedly worship nature... "supposedly wouldn't hurt a fly." The reasons for protest are, and I quote, Pagan/Wiccans "worship Satan" "Animal Sacrifice" "Run around the woods naked." AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!

Yes, someone does listen...unfortunately, not the mass majority. Not in my generation, nor my son's, & probably not even my grandchildren's generation. But I like to believe that eventually, PEOPLE will change.

AAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!
It's things like that that keep the non-pagan community thinking the way they do...making them scared of what they don't know about!! If people would only stop being ignorant and get an education on things before they open their mouths, the world would be a much happier place!!! errrrrrrrr!!! If I had seen something like that in my city, I would have called the network and complained!!! it's so frustrating!!!

yes, it can get pretty frustrating, i suspect one of these days somebody will get just enough ticked off that one of these "no pagans" at a public event bans will bring an aclu lawsuit. then watch the sparks fly as the opposition is required to prove all those claims about what we allegedly do.
(can i come down and sacrifice a bull to mithras?)

Believe me, I did! I couldn't get through to the News Editor, though, so, I wrote a letter about their lack of knowledge and irressponsible journalism. I'm about to write a letter to my local newspaper as well.

Em Hotep...
How was your weekend? Did you find the Obelisk?
The part that steams me the most here is that our Christian president is off killing threatened species in cages, destroying the Arctic Wildlife Reserve, and WE, who respect animals and nature as much as we do other humans, are accused of animal sacrifice!!!! That is what is driving me crazy.

I hear ya. This is making me really angry too. Don't they teach reporters ethics and truth in reporting anymore? I know it was many years ago, but when I took journalism in high school, that was drummed into our heads. And we had too quote sources. Who did these reporters talk too??
I expect this s*** from tabloids, not from the local news

The media is no longer about truth. It's about entertainment and sales. What's a few lies and some controversy if it makes them some money. Even a lawsuit in the long run would increase sales. After all someone has to tell their side of the story......Sometimes reality sucks try to avoid the vacuum.

I am forced to laugh at this...ignorance must be bliss. Let them believe what they want. No matter how upset or ticked off we get we are only feeding their jaded ideas of us not to mention raising our own blood pressure! It's not worth the aggrevation.

for example....we had a meeting today (I'm in radio for those who don't know) and we were told by our bosses...."Lie if you have to to give yourself something to talk about on the air...." (I don't think he meant as far as changing real news stories to make them better...) but we don't have to, and are not taught to, research a story in depth before we discuss it on the air...what we want to say goes...now I'm sure this is different in tv...but with a story like this they are not going to "waste their time" to report the truth....there is a case right now that I don't think I'm able to discuss in detail...but a tv station is taking things off of our airwaves and using it on tv without our permission....it doesn't matter to them what is right and what is wrong....it's not even entertainment anymore...it's all business! and whatever makes the company money is what goes.....I hate the business...but love the work...it makes me embarrassed to say that I work for the media....

No aparently no-one in the general population listens. Arguments they used to prevent pagans at this festival of religions are same one used everywhere else. You know the ones that are perpetuated by the media especially through news which report these myths as facts. (OOPPS!!!!!!!! I'm ranting again. SORRY 8O)
I'm calming down now. I am listening and so are the many pagans around the world who know the  truth.
:heartthro :heartthro BB :heartthro :heartthro

PS When i say media it is not just the news but hollywood as well. Although the news prides itself on its credibility therefore its views have more weight than T.V shows such as Charmed & Buffy (we know these are fiction) and Movies.
