I recently had a friend who has converted to the Theistic Luciferian religion and I'm confused on what exactly she believes in and what this religion means so rather than offend her with all sorts of questions, etc.,
I thought I would begin my study online and also posting here for anyone who might know more about it and can also give me links and or books to read as well as try to please explain it to me in terms I can understand

thanks in advance for any replies

I don't know much about it, to be honest. I think...and I could be wrong...but they worship Lucifer as a deity, correct? It's interesting.

Well, at a base level, my understanding of Luciferianism is that it's a philosophy or set of religious systems that identifies with the pre-Fall qualities associated with Lucifer (in contrast to Satanism, I suppose, although there are probably quite a few ties). The Bringer of Light, and all that (although if there is a pre-Fall/post-Fall split, I'm not sure if the associations with free will and rebellion would fall solely on the Satanic side of things or straddle the fence). I would assume that theistic Luciferianism would attribute godhood to Lucifer as an individual rather than simply an archangel or an idea. But that would only be an assumption based on the choice of terms.

If she is one of your closest friends ask her to tell you about it. It's great that you are showing interest by wanting to learn about it but she might appreciate the chance to share with you why she chose that path rather than doing research on you own. Avoiding the topic could appear as though you are afraid or disapprove of her choice. Or worse yet, that you aren't interested at all.

I agree. Asking her would be best. From my understanding it's not a path that has much of a unified base. The Luciferians I've come across are pretty individual and their beliefs may differ from each other on various points. It's not like Wicca where there are many books and sources to look to for guidance.

That being said, besides asking your friend (because GEBS does bring up a good point), there are a lot of discussions amongst Luciferians on this forum:

You might get an idea of what they believe from there. Though not everyone in there is theistic.

Luciferianism has a lot of different sects and sets of individual beliefs and practices, some of them get a lot of their philosophical ideas from Laveyan Satanism, some of them tend more towards gnosticism. You should really ask your friend, because Luciferianism is a pretty big umbrella term.
