Perhaps it's time these road painters went back to school.

Contractors have misspelled the word "school" as "shcool" on road leading to Southern Guilford High School in North Carolina, the Telegraph newspaper reports.

A crew was asked to paint school zones on the road last week after it was repaved. The company responsible for the error said it would be fixed as soon as possible. The paint is said to be "interim" paint which is used before the final paint is applied

It isn't the first time the word "school" has been misspelled — last year crews directed Miami drivers to "schohol". And NBC reports that workers spelt every word incorrectly on a newly-erected sign incorrectly last year — except for "exit".

The sign read:
Exit 185
Buisness
Rothschield
Schofeild

thus proving my point in another thread - that education is needed.

That is funny, but sad, and funny. Maybe they should appoint someone to be their spell checker, lol.

My mother is a teacher, and the cake they ordered from a local bakery for a retirement party read "Happy Reterment."

I find things like this both something to be laughed about and a slight concern.

...or maybe the sign painters were slightly dyslexic.

That is kind of frightening. It's not just bad service, it's illiteracy in action.

That's just sad and pathetic.

I take it none of you have ever made a spelling mistake?

I consider it irresponsible, and poor work, but not illiterate. Mistakes happen. I know there are some days that I'm on auto-pilot, and make silly mistakes that others catch. It happens.

True, but the general line of thinking is that one would think one probably would have noticed the slip-up while taking the time to paint a single gigantic word, as opposed to a simple typo or writing the wrong letter in a lengthier message with a pencil or a pen. :hrmm:
