hey guys!
How would you differentiate between digital art and illustration?

I've never really known the true definition of what separates one from the other. I personally regard digital art to be anything drawn/created digitally. Where as digital illustration is a finished piece that is normally cartoony in nature. I view it that way, because when I think of illustration, I think of books. I could be wrong on this definition, though. It's just how I personally divide the two.

I don't know if there is a difference in regard to digital works, but in art school they teach us that illustration differs in that an illustration is based upon piece of literature, another's ideas, etc. whereas "art" is based upon the artist's own ideas. That doesn't make illustration any less valuable in my opinion though.

If this is what Kayla has just said, it is really no different. It is just like your idea and my own idea :) Thanks
i at least can define them now
