View Full Version : Unusual spirit guide?

I don't know if this is the right subforum for this, but it seemed as appropriate as any. For some time, about since I met my SO in fact, I have had repeated, intense dreams that involved an egg. The egg, in these dreams, feels like an entity of its own; one with something to teach or show me. I have started to look to these dreams for the meaning and direction I am able to find in the egg.
I have come to believe that the egg is my spirit guide, even though I have never heard of such a thing before. What could it mean?

It could mean you are becoming more in tune with your womanhood, the egg, a sacred symbol of a woman's reproduction.
Possibly your deity is sending you these dreams to open your eyes to something between you and your SO.
I would try using an egg as your focal point in a serious meditation.

That's a great idea! I will try it. :) Thank you!
Do you happen to have any idea about which Tarot suit or card would represent eggs?

The Qabbalistic Teachers tell us that Man's body is enveloped in a shining oval bubble, which they call the Auric Egg.It is the causal sphere of Man.
The conscioussness within this egg, is concentrated into a point of consciousness, the ego. Everything ever used by Man is drawn from the latent powers of the egg. Man never passes from this egg, and remains within for incarnation after incarnation. It cannot be broken, or breached until the "Lesser day" when Man is liberated from the wheel of necessity.
The Ancient Orphic Mysteries, had as thier symbol, a Serpent entwined around an egg. The egg signified the cosmos, and the Serpent, the creative spirit. The egg also symbolises the soul of the philosopher, and the Serpent, the Mysteries. At the time of initiation, the shell is broken, and man emerges from his embryonic state of physical existence, from his foetal period.
So it could be that you are going through some kind of hatching process, but as yet, the shell has not broken. If the egg is a recurring theme throughout your life, it could be that you are stuck, and all the tribulations that you face are testing you for some great spiritual birth process. Which you are aware of, but as yet, have not passed through to the awakening or birth.
I don't know, I don't even like eggs because of the little red spots that you get inside them. What part do eggs play as a dietary element for you? How do you like them fried? Hard or soft boiled? You need to find out exactly what role eggs play in your physical, day to day life if you are to understand it's mystery on a spiritual level. Good luck.

I know the first thought would be pentacles or coins because of the shape, however, I personally would think cups as a vessel.

Is there a correlation between your egg fetish and sperm?
Just asking, don't bite me.

1. I don't really have an egg fetish
2. Thank you Siochain, that is an interesting take! I was thinking pentacles as well, but cups makes a great deal of sense, and my SO is represented in Tarot by the King of Cups.
3. I eat quite a lot of eggs as I raise chickens, and like them prepared almost any way. :)

In my first mediations I meet a beetroot, it grew along with my visualized energy and then exploded. Sadly we never meet again...
And I am usually completely repulsed by anything with beetroot
It may not be relevant, but the topic name gave me the impression to share my experience,

I have a suggestion...consider the possibility that the egg is not a spirit guide, but a tool that your real spirit guide is trying to show you. Maybe you are either needing to be cleaned with an egg or use eggs to help clean and heal others......just a thought!

Thanks for your thoughts! I really get the strong feeling in the dreams that the egg is an entity itself, and it's trying to show me something.

Try peyote. Maybe it will open that door for you.

From a shamanic perspective the egg could be you. It being symbolic of the source of birthing a new life. The entity within being nothing less than the potential of self that lies untapped and thus unborn as of yet.
Yet like a true egg is has to be protected and provided warmth to allow the development to continue within until it has reached the stage where the new life is ready to come forth.

Take the egg on its own terms. A lot of the time spirits don't adhere to the correspondences we humans place on their forms. So while the suggestions here are sound, keep in mind they're primarily human constructions and observations, and may or may not apply to *your* egg.
Any idea what sort of critter the egg came from?

I like all of these interesting suggestions... real food for thought!
I don't have any idea what creature the egg could have come from, or even how big it is... there is no context in these dreams from which to gather size. The egg is pale in color, possibly a very light tan.

We live in the egg
we have covered the inside wall of the shell with dirty drawings
and the christian names of our enemies
we are being hatched
whoever is hatching us is hatching our pencils as well
Set free from the eggone day, at once we will draw a picture,
of whoever is hatching us.
When shall we break the shell?
Our prophets inside the egg, for a middling salary, argue about
the period of incubation.
They posit a day called "X"
Out of boredom and genuine need, we have invented incubators
We are much concerned about our offspring inside the egg
We shall be glad to reccomend our patent to whom looks
after us.
But we have a room full of hardheads, senile chimps, polyglot
embryos
Chatter all day and even discuss their dreams
But what if we are not being hatched?
What if the shell will never break, if the horizon is only that of our
scribbles, and always will be?
We hope we are being hatched
Even if we only talk of hatching, there remains the fear
that someone outside the shell will feel hungry
and crack us into the frying pan, with a pinch of salt
What then, my brethren inside the egg?
Bob Calvert.

I wonder, could the egg be a sign cluing you in that soon the egg will hatch into you spirit guide. I recommend looking into egg-laying animals and seeing what fits you best. everything from birds to penguins (still birds, but worth a specific mention) to platypus(es? i?).
How exactly does the egg look? colour, size, shape (besides egg-shaped :P), etc

Lots of good suggestions to look into.
Some things that popped into my mind.
Do you wish to have children? As the egg being a sign of fertility this could be a way of your desires coming more to the surface. It could be that its telling you the person you are with is "the one" or it could be telling you its time to start keeping an eye out for "the one". This could be anything from getting pregnant to adopting.
It may not have to do with that, I feel that its possible that it could be regarding something else, something you may have to take care of. Are you hatching any eggs from your chickens? Thinking about it?
I just get a sense of strong parenting of some sort. Doesn't always mean kids, it could be a kitten thats lost its mom and needs taken care of, or something.
Another thought. Are all of your chickens ok? Are you worried about them? Have any of them been sick? Any predators lurking around lately? I worry about ours all the time, maybe its a sign they do or will need help with the eggs.
Hope you find out soon. Good luck!

I have three kids, and I very profoundly do not want to have any more. Knock on wood!
My biddies are all healthy and happy; moulting right now, so they're not laying, but these dreams date back to about May.
I really think that my job in this is to learn how to communicate with the egg, so it can guide me.

Was the egg in your dream a chicken egg or from something else? Maybe in another dream something will hatch out of the egg? What are you trying to "birth" or create in your life?
