HI, yeah, it's me again. Hi! I pop in on an irregular basis...LOL

I was wondering, I don't have a particular Pantheon, never have. I am drawn to the Egyptian Gods as I am a bit of an armature Egyptologist, and also the Greek, though I am 1/2 Native American and 1/2 Italian...I simply pray to "The Lord & Lady" when I have thanks, need, prayer, ritual, whatever......anyone else

Actually, I do have a particular pantheon. I am really drawn to the Greek pantheon. However, I really like the Celtic and Norse pantheons, but I don't feel that a deep of a connection to those pantheons. I'm mainly drawn to particular deities in those pantheons. I know that many people here have their own eclectic path and follow more than one pantheon. Whatever works for you! :) By the way, welcome here!

I am drawn to Celtic, Greek, and Norse. More often I've gone to Greek always.. but switching between Norse and Greek.

Right now, Loki is the chosen God of me.. and Demeter is another. I know that many say Demeter would have a counterpart in the Celtic pantheon as well as the Nordic. I agree, but I'd rather just use Demeter.

I know what you mean, Loki. Often the Greek deities have a similar counterpart in another pantheon; however, I just choose to use the Greek. There are some goddesses who don't have a really good counterpart in another pantheon, such as Freyja, so I will just ask that specific goddess for guidance instead of finding a similar deity in the Greek pantheon.

I understand what you mean! I'm an eclectic, I work with many pantheons, I feel drawn to many of them... Tho, I'm 1/2 Egyptian and 1/2 Greek ( with a lot of other countries mixed with both...) Anyway, I think that's where my attraction to many pantheons came from... :)

For some reason, I don't really have a specific pantheon that I'm interested in. I am drawn to nature, but no specific gods or goddesses yet. I am still searching...

No particlulars for me, either..

Just go with the current mood..

Some people don't follow a particular pantheon. Have you thought of looking into a general goddess figure who is in all the pantheons? For example, most cultures have a Mother Goddess. She's connected with nature. Or what about the Triple Goddess?

I tend to fall in love with many of the Goddesses I research. Often they are from different pantheons. At first I tried to pick one pantheon to focus on, but that didn't work for me. Since I consider all Goddesses to be a manifestation of the Great Goddess, I haven't had a problem working with Deities from different pantheons. I do have special relationships with a few that I honor on a regular basis.

I've never really 'clicked' with a pantheon. I've been looking for a little-known one, so it seems more individual, but I can't find one that sticks with me. I do have a thing for Celtic deities though :D

Paganism is more a philosophy for me, these days, than a religion. I don't know how else to explain it. . . :)

I tend to work with whoever comes knocking. It's kind of interesting, being metaphysically blindsided whenever Someone takes notice. :D

I've never really heard any other gods knockin' on my spiritual door..

Is that normal?

Really? I thought that Loki came to you? I remember reading your posts from months back. Sometimes, the gods and goddesses just don't give you explicit messages as if knocking on your door. They sometimes give you little hints through everyday symbols in your life.

I have to admit that I am in agreement with Phoenix on Paganism being a philosophy... but also, as a way of life. I like to take knowledge from every possible source I can find and throw it all into the pot and find answers that way!!! :shift: :smoke:

Hi there! I'm definitely more eclectic than anything, but I feel drawn to Crone Goddesses, especially Ereshkigal. I think that is because the scant mythology that exists about her connects with me and what I have experienced in my own life. Of course, I don't see deity as a physcial/tangible thing--I wouldn't necessarily say it's a philosophy, but I feel that deity is more archetypal than anything else. Very Jungian, no? LOL

Yeah, your idea is very Jungian. I love Jung's idea on the archetypes that pervade mythology. I'm a big fan of his work. :) So I guess if someone is looking at the symbolism of the deities, that person doesn't need to follow a specific pantheon. Oooh, that's my philosophy. Perhaps there is philosophy interwined in these beliefs. lol. Well, nice to meet you, Gaithel.

Sure is. I think that's true for a lot of people. I didn't myself until a few months ago, and believe me it was not expected.

Greetings,

Believing strongly in one particular first mover, I'm still trying to find one or more deities that fit in. I'm not so much eclectic as stubborn. I'm happy with the reach of my belief system, although I'd like to gain more religious depth.

Up to now, no particular pantheon I know easily combines with my views. Then again, my knowledge has its limits.

That however doesn't stop me from focusing energy, feeling, reading and healing.

My first post here - hi everyone! :D

I was initially attracted to the Greek pantheon because they were familiar to me - as a kid I loved reading Greek mythology. But as I've done more reading and looking into other pantheons, I find I'm drawn to a number of Gods and Goddesses.

The one common theme with most of them is being connected to nature and/or animals in some way, but it's not always the case.
For example, I've always had a fondness for Ares.

As Xentor said, my knowledge also has limits. Hopefully it always will...

Hi Shpongle! Welcome to this forum! :)
Your post sounded just like something that I would have written. I, too, am drawn to the Greek deities, mainly because I grew up learning about them. The more that I learn about other pantheons, the more that I become intrigued.

We can never get full of knowledge, so we can never grow bored of learning new things.

I don't have a particular pantheon, either, tho not for lack of searching. I'm drawn to Native American beliefs and also Greek and Celtic. Kind of a strange mix. I find that whenever I feel the need to relate to deity, I just use the Lord and Lady mostly. That feels most comfortable to me.

Question - I've read that at first you shouldn't "mix" pantheons. But in the latest books I've read by Phyllis Curott (Witchcrafting, Book of Shadows), her circle mixed goddesses all the time. Sounds like some of you do, too. Have you run into any problems doing that? It would make my search a lot easier, I think, if I felt I was ok doing that.

I've read a lot of books in which the authors "mix" pantheons. I think that authors tend to do this now, so that their book could be read by anyone; the books tend to be very general.
I have not heard that you aren't suppose to mix pantheons at first. I have only seen one problem: People sometimes begin working with a god or goddess whom they know so little about. Their original assumption about the deity could be misunderstood. Follow your heart, sunbear! :sunny:

I myself have no pantheon as I find all far too limiting, though I give all equal respect.

I don't have any particular pantheon either. I think that's mostly because I don't know so much yet. Maybe one day, when I have more knowledge of all the pantheons, I might choose some.

I read somewhere that mixing pantheons is okay, but you just have to make sure you know the pantheons well enough and you should preferrably use the pantheons from the same origin in one ritual/circle/whatever... :) But I don't really know much so don't count on me too much ;).

I didn't used to really have a particular pantheon I worshipped. . . but Odin, Thor, and that group are kind of dragging me in :D Not that I'm complaining, mind you, I just never thought of it. *chuckles* I still belive in other gods and such, but I am increasingly drawn to the norse beliefs.

I generally only hear a single voice. . . **smiles** to which I've never tried to place a name. So, no, I don't subscribe to any particular pantheon, either.
