Elemental Directions

How do you see each directions element. Like do you see it the normal way North Earth, East Air, South Fire, and West Water or do you have different elemental directions.

Directions for me are relative to my body. up (head) is air, down (legs) are earth, fire is left and water is right.

The old standby is N = Earth. E = Air. S = Fire. W = Water. For me, it happens to jive with the environment. We have a large lake to the West, we have lots of trees and hills to the North, a stunning view of the sunrise to the East...

Some folks slot Air into the North because of the cold North winds. For me, North is always Earth and South is always Fire because of where shadows are, and are not, cast.

South - fire
West - water

It helps in divination to know that because it offers a better insight.

East -- Fire (where the sun rises)
South -- Earth
West -- Water

I also have 'above' and 'below' in my practice, as well as the outer rim of the compass. That said, I tend to associate certain deities with these seven directions rather than elements.

West-Air
North-Water

I grew up with Feng Shui principles engrained in my head, and so it just carried over.

Yeah, I do use those directions for the elements......sort of. I never actually know which direction is which so I just randomly pick and it all works out ok. (yes I have gotten compasses but they get broken or lost and I just can't be bothered to keep track of them)

East: earth

These directions should vary according to your geographical location.

I move around a lot and i always change them according to the environment I am in. At the moment West is Air, East is Water, South is Earth and North is Fire. Sometimes they can be muddled up and I'll have East as Water and Air for example. Those times I'll use my body to indicate the directions Head for Air/Intellect, Feet for Earth, Right side for Fire/Projective, Left side for Water/Receptive. I myself represent Spirit.

Unless I am given a feeling saying other wise I use this

N:Earth

S:Fire

E:Air

W:Water

and because of my worship or my Goddess Nyx there is one more element to the circle
