I'm doing some research on pentacle elements. I dig the eastern pentacle elements... I know a little bit more about that history. What I am curious to know is the western pentacle elements and where that comes from. I have obviously seen much discrepancy ('spirit' at the top/bottom seems to be the consensus). I'm trying to find which 'opinion' comes from whom/where, and more tricky why. For example the the Taoist elemental pentacle the reasoning behind each position is that they create/destroy one another in the cycle. Is there a similar though to the various schools of western pentacle-ism?

I'm a little confused about what you mean by "pentacle elements." Are you talking about the element positions on the five points? If so this website might be a good place to start:

If you are talking about the difference between Eastern Elements and Western Elements in the natural sense, I suggest looking into Aristotle. His natural elements and philosophy is probably a nice starting point.

Also, I just found this website: http://www.cs.utk.edu/~mclennan/BA/JO-PE.txt

Might be helpful. But please post anything you might find as well, the study of the elements as they vary by culture is very interesting to me. :D
