Ok, here is something weird that happened to a witch friend of mine. She was moving today, and when she got to her new place her wand had snapped in two, and the crystal tip was ripped off. The weird part, is that it had been wrapped in something and protected! I don't really believe in coincidences, and when a magical tool gets broken, well it seems it would mean something. Any ideas?

Tools break, things break all the time during a move. Only your friend would know if there was an omen attached to it or not.

Sure, everything happens for a reason, but maybe in this instance the message was, "New home means get a new wand?"

that is the only thing I would gleam, I used to try and figure out the meaning of every random thing that happened but it got too much.

If there was a message intended, I would suspect it would have came in a more direct manner, either though a divination or a dream.

My two cents,

Your friend needs to "wrap and protect" her precious tools more carefully.

When we moved, we lost a cello peg... the cello was in a secured case, and hadn't been taken out prior to the move. THAT is a little more suspicious than a 'wand' being mangled in a move. But I still don't think it's something metaphysical.

Time for a replacement.

All I can say is who did the packing? Being military I moved every 2 - 3 with my family and some moves we lost lots, others nothing. Yet it all depended upon who and how the packing was done.

Believe it or not the worse examples of packing were by people packing thier own stuff and trully having no idea of the how of it.

time to buy a new one :bouncysmi

While I do think there can be meanings behind things. I also think they are usually very personal and without knowing your friend I couldn't really be sure at all.

Often even well protected things just happen to break sadly. But If it feels to her to be meaningful as some sort of message then she should try to think about it deeper and explore what it could mean.

Where did she get the wand? Did it hold any specific significance? Wand for me represents fire which is a great way to burn out the old and start fresh! Perhaps in the past she didn't get to really use her tools that much and now in her new place she will be able to?

All just guesses as I said without knowing her I wouldn't really know. But she could always meditate on it and see if anything comes up?

Just for the record though I think you've presented one of the main tennents of the fluffier side of the Pagan umbrella. It broke so it must mean something. Sometimes crap happens for no reason other than that it did, no special purposes or meanings involved in it at all.

I don't think it means anything at all. I've had things professionally packed in form fitting Styrofoam, taped, in a secure box and they still broke when I moved. It happens.

There is of course the fact that it broke because she didn't pack it right. I just did not know if there was anything lore wise about a breaking of a magical tool. (aside from time to buy a new one . . .)

The wand was especially made for her by a wand maker, commissioned by myself as a yule gift a few years back. (I had wands commissioned for each of my coveners as a special gift.)

ROAD TRIP TO OLLIVANDER'S!!!!

Heh.

Seriously, I don't think it particularly means anything....unless maybe the way is being cleared for a different, perhaps better, wand to come into her life.

On a not-quite-related note, I've been thinking about getting a wand (I've never had one before) and I'm checking them out on eBay and assorted websites (although some of those are just ruinously priced for no apparent reason). Anyone want to recommend a dealer/maker? Any help is appreciated!

(I'm really wanting a certain wand I saw on eBay, and the price is good...but the maker is in Australia and shipping is 2/3rds again the price...which smarts a bit.)
