Some thoughts for my sister please, attempted suicide

Last night my 13 yr old sister was taken to the hospital because she took a handful of pills.

She is going through alot of things right now, some of it is attention seeking and some of it is issues she is dealing with. She is in the mental hospital today and is going to stay for a few days. The youth counselor is going to also get some in home help and get someone in the house to see how it is/what it looks like.

Since mom died my sister has never really grieved and my step dad doesn't know wtf he is doing. My sister wants to move out, I honestly can't blame her and I do believe her when she tells me some of the things he has said to her. (go ahead and kill yourself I dont care, I wish I had better kids, etc etc)..there was history of abuse with him hurting mom (broken ribs, etc) and he has his own psychotic issues.

Its going to be rough for the next little bit, some of it is her needing to be reigned in, along with dealing with issues and getting grief counseling, and getting some help in the home. I talked to the lady after my step dad left, there were some things I didn't want to say infront of him, but she agree'd that in the five minutes she talked to him he didn't seem to know up from down.

He never went back and saw my sister to see if she was ok or anything either, I tried to get him to..but his excuse was "those chairs really hurt my back"...ugh.

I just read your post, I can relate to alot of the things she is going through that yóu wrote, she needs help and someone to talk to, I hope things works out for the better and that the step-monster is taken to where he belongs and I hope u told the people about the things he has said to her.
