Hi, i don't have a membership on here yet, so i'm using my girlfriends. A few nights ago, i was at a small party. As is my habit, i poured a libation of wine to Bacchus to bless the party. A few hours into the party, i got a little bored, so i started meditating. I felt some form of energy in the area of my third eye and focused on it. with a little work, i figured out how to move the energy through my body. As it coursed through me, i felt that i couldn't control the flow, that the energy was coming from outside my body. This continued for several minutes. I tried to stand up and promptly fell over. My girlfriend who was standing next to me, told me later that first her hand started tingling, then it moved through her whole arm, and then the arm went numb. I immediately left and started trying to ground the energy, after about ten minutes of solid grounding and expelling, i got it down to a tolerable level. I've tried repeating this, but have had little to no success. If anyone has any ideas on either 1) what happend, 2) how to control it, or 3) any other information that might be helpful i would be greatly obliged.

Did you drink at this party? Do drugs?

Because, quite frankly, meditating while under the influence of alcohol, or even sitting very still for a period of time while under the influence of alcohol will mess with you, you'll get dizzy when you try to stand up again.

Alcohol is a central nervous system depressant, after all, and can have a psychoactive effect.

Tingling in certain parts of the face is not uncommon while intoxicated, neither is falling over.

That's a very important question Alma.

Drinking or doing drugs of any kind before meditating can be dangerous if you're not trying to create an altered state and have a teacher to guide you.

It almost sounds like you were having a kundalini experience of some kind. I may be wrong but uncontrollable energy entering the body from out side is something that goes along with one of these experiences.

Tingling part should not have anything with alcohol or drugs to do.
I have only one question regarding the meditation: did you take continuously deep breaths before the tingling and numbness part? :D
If yes: long formula short --> bicarbonate adjusts the blood pH --> It affect the nerve system. <-- awesome affects, great fun

I had a litle to smoke that night, but no more than i'm used to. and i know what it feels like when i'm high and this went WAY beyond anything that's ever happened to me. as a rule, i don't have magical experiences whens toned, except for this

*shrugs* One can have different reactions to the same drug despite having done the drug before. The quality of the drug can be different, the circumstances surrounding you can be different... you reaction can be different depending on underlying health issues, if you've eaten enough... etc.

The experience doesn't have to be magical, it can just have been an accumulative effect of how you've slept, how you've eaten, what drugs you've done and the quality of the drug, how you meditated and the environment surrounding you... I have similar things happen to me when I have forgotten to eat and have had too much coffee. Low blood sugar and caffeine, or nicotine for that matter = a dizzy Njorun... tingling sensation and feelings of "energy flowing through you" can be as simply explained as blood vessels expanding and contracting... just saying.

Good stuff!!! You got a good flow going but it went a little out of control. Kinda like plugging a 110 into a 220 outlet. LOL
Seriously, this was just a energy flow that caught you by surprise.
So thats what it was.

Control it....years of practice. We can not perfect anything without just practicing.

I consider this good stuff. It shows a good skill in moving and attracting energy. What you need now is patients, as it may be time before you can repeat the experience, and practice.

Also you need to know what energy your pulling and using and what you want to do with it. Those are things you have to explore on your own for the best understanding. Take it in baby steps so you can concentrate on finding that understanding. You dont just want to senseless pull, move and toss around energy. You would never have any control doing that.
You want to know where is this energy flow coming from? Do I want it to come from there or somewhere else?
Can I stop the flow, change it, etc.
How strong do I want it to flow?
Where do I want it to go and why?

Go slow. Take your time. We dont learn how to do something as simple as walking in a day. This is a lot more complex that that. ;)
