Ok...Here it is.

I've just been learning a bit on tarot for about 2 1/2 weeks now. My question is when you do a reading for someone else, do you read the cards with the upright and reverse as they would see them or are the cards read the same direction as if you are doing a reading for yourself?

Well I read them as I am looking at them. I think you can do it the other way but you need to know which way you are going to do it before you even shuffle the deck...let the deck know...ya know?:)

Most people 'read' the cards from their viewpoint, so in reality the Querent is viewing the cards upside down. I know of a few people who lay them out so the Quernt sees them correctly and they reverse them in their mind - and that seems like a lot of unnecessary work!

IMHO It's the reader's viewpoint that matters.

Personally, I have the Querent sitting next to me, not across from me, so that they see the cards fromt he same viewpoint as I do.
