Like many other part of Canada and the United States, Newfoundland and Labrador has a turbulent and often sad history when it comes to their native population. The Beothuks, for instance, were completely wiped out, with the last remaining one, a woman named Shanawdithit, dying of TB in 1823.
But for all their hardship, the native peoples of Canada's most remote province have a rich and vibrant spiritual past and present.
