For a little over a year now everytime I do a reading with my tarot deck one or more of the cards say that my intentions or influences or some other aspect is superfical or selfish etc. And I know this to be untrue. I think my cards have become spiteful towards me and I can't think of why. I am now afraid to do any more readings. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Well, I have a couple of thoughts. The first is that yes, you can cleanse your deck - and I think there are several threads below that detail that.

Second - it may be you, not your cards. I know I project my own fears into readings all the time, and my cards reflect them. Somewhere in your unconscious, you may be afraid that you are somehow being selfish or self centered, and it may be projected onto your readings.

Third - try simplifying your readings for awhile. If you usually do a big spread, then go down to one or three cards for awhile. Ask your deck to give you a single card that describes the aura of the situation for you, or what qualities you need to reflect on - in other words, give it a specific question with a specific answer. Then take your single card and really meditate on it's implications. Keep a journal of these readings.
When you feel comfy again, move up to asking for three cards, either as a past, present, future reading, or simply as three cards that describe the energy of the situation. I use this kind of three card reading a lot when reading for friends.

What this will do is clean up a lot of the excess energy and points of focus that you might get from a ten card spread or something like that.

Finally, if you really don't feel your cards are right for you, then start seaching for another deck.

As Azure said, your deck needs a complete and thorough cleansing.

When my deck gets 'uppity', I take the long edge of the deck and SLAM IT AGAINST THE TABLETOP TWO OR THREE TIMES! Remember, you own the deck; it does not own nor control you. When I do this I usually say something like "Stop playing around! I need the correct answer NOW!" { Be sure to ask for the 'correct' answer, or the cards may give you the reading that you 'want', not need.}

Usually works for me!

Tarotbear~ :woah: !!!!!!!!

When my decks get like that, I pass them over at least 2 candle flames, incense, then let them sit in the full moon light. That usually does the trick... But every so often, I have to put them under my pillow as well. (They like it under there)
