Namaste

Sticking to your Dharma and fulfilling it is very important in Hinduism. In the Bhagavad Gita especially, Krishna tells Arjuna that he must fight the Kauvaras, as it is his duty to do so, being a Kshatriya (of the warrior caste). Krishna even went on to say that it is better to fulfill your own Dharma then to try to go after the Dharma of another (the bad auditions on American Idol pops to mind). The point is we all play a very important role in the world, and it is best to continue doing what you were born to do, instead of chasing after things you wish you could do but cannot for whatever reason, as it helps the world stay in balance and contributes to it in a positive manner. As an example, you wouldn't be very happy doing something you were not destined to do.

As I was not born into a caste, it was hard for me to see for myself for a while. I still do believe in Dharma, however, and believe that it is important for me to fulfil it; at one point I was convinced I was to be a professional singer; only until I realized that, while I had a good voice, it wasn't spectacular...also I'm shy and nervous, have no stage presence, and I can't really draw in the audience (unless I speak to them). Only when I let go of what I thought I was destined to be did things get better, and life started moving me in the direction of what I was actually meant to be.

What do you think of Dharma? Do you believe in destiny and what one is born to be and do? Let me know!

SO TRUE! Have you ever had your Vedic/Jyothish horoscope read?

I'm on my way to finding my own career path myself. The career I've chosen isn't exactly bringing me much success. Oh well. I'll figure it out eventually. :hahugh:

No, I haven't been able to have a reading done, but I'd love one. I've been reading everything I can get my hands on about Jyotisha :p

I find it extremely accurate. You need to have your birth date & time (to the closest minute).
It is very accurate but doesn't necessarily fit in with my Buddhist ideals. But I believe that nothing is set in stone (as it is based on your Karma at that point in time from your current and previous lives) - so if you are unhappy with the predictions then you can make attempts to change it by doing good Karma. Well that is my take on it anyway. The astrologer may hold back on certain things - for example he said I would have a change in career - but said he wasn't going to tell me to what career so that he doesn't interfere with any of my decision making process.
I didn't actually meet the astrologer the first time (someone else checked it on my behalf) and he had said that Ganesh is watching over me. I nearly fell off my chair! How could he possibly have known that I had a picture of Ganesh on display in my house!!!???:holycow:

hehe ^_^ I love that! Ganesha is one of my favorite of the Devas. I can see Him being a kind of guardian.
