Seems like as good a spot as any for this question. I wish do do a spell requiring the invoking of a penticle. It seems, somewhere in a faded memory, there's something about direction. A difference in casting the penticle clockwise or widdershins? Something that changes the meaning of the penticle?

HELP!:ahhhh:

Widdershins is for a banishing pentacle. Deosil is for a welcoming pentacle. Bringing things to you.

In some traditions, the invoking and banishing pentagrams are different for each element. In the one I'm learning, the 'default' if you need a banishing pentagram, is banishing earth, where you start at the bottom left, up to the top center, bottom right, upper left, upper right, back to lower left.

Different traditions use different systems for the others (earth seems to be the one that's most consistent in placement)

Thank-you--I think the one I want is widdershins starting at the bottom right. It is not so much a banishing spell as a protection spell, but the idea is to keep certain spirit out. This should work fine
