Last night, Cathy and I came home to find a pipe had burst in our kitchen. The floor was covered with water, and the carpet in the living room and hall was soaked. We'll probably have to rip the carpet up and toss it. This is the latest in a string of challenges this winter, so any good thoughts and positive energy would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Blessed be.

((((ya'll))))
Believe me we know the feeling here.
Last weekend a pipe froze and it was just a minor thing to repair.
This weekend a pipe froze and it turned out to be a leak from the water heater.
But your winter problems sound really bad.
:(
Again, ((((ya'll))))
and good energies your way.

((((hugs)))) I understand and sympathise completely. We came home from Christmas vacation to find that our water heater had sprung a leak and flooded the entire appartment up to the ankles. We were really lucky that there's no carpet in our place. However, we didn't have hot water for a month.... (luckily it's so hot here the water doesn't get too cold). :)

Our pipes froze the other day but we got lucky we were able to defrost them with a blowdryer.

Greetings Knight:
I know exactly HOW you feel...
here's you HUG first...
((((((((((((( huge hugs)))))))))))))))))))))))))
My husband and I (and our three girls) are experiencing a myriad of mishaps this winter...eeegads! It's been one thing after another. I've been blaming it on Mercury being all Retro and all, but perhaps there's more at work here
(strokes imaginary beard - merlin style)
hmmmmm....
I wonder.
But...learning all these "life lessons" sure can get to be a pain in the ass after awhile - yes?
It's like I want to scream "ok OK I get IT!!!! I promise to appreciate my life, my loved ones and simple comforts of a good life....I won't take them for granted ever again....Pllleeeeeaze let the lessons be over for awhile!"
grunt groan growl..
yep - I feel your pain, buddy.
hope your floor and carpets are dry soon!
but I hope MORE that you have GOOD friends to help out at times like these! I'd be in the looney bin for sure if it weren't for my friends!
Good luck ((((((another hug for good measure)))))))

*BIG HUGS!*
I know how you feel!
In our old house, my mom's room was lower (converted garage-type-area) and because of the memosa trees' roots, it used to flood many times a year. Backed up ickywater. *shudders*
So you have much of my sympathy!

Sabrina...I know exactly what you mean with MErcury being in Retro...its wreaking havoc all over the place....
(((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))))))))))))
My positve vibes are with you all...good luck ..also, if you keep the water running somehow doesn't that keep the pipes from freezing? Course, it is hard to keep it running when you hve to pay for water...but I was just curious if there was a way to keep them from freezing...I used to live in Maine, Michigan, and Central New York...we kept our pipes from freezing somehow...

Thanks to everybody. I'm off to Home Depot to try to find materials to fix the pipe. It looks like the carpet will have to go. The smell is unbelievable, like instant mildew. The padding underneath was old, and every footstep squishes a brownish liquid up through the carpet. Yikes! I wanted to get rid of the carpet anyway, but I was hoping to wait until Spring!
Yes, Blueowl, you're right, but three things weigh against us. First, we share a well with other households, and if we run water, it lowers everyone else's water pressure. I've come home some days to find our water turned off at the main valve by a "helpful" neighbor. Second, Maryland just got over a drought, and lots of people are still trying to conserve water, just in case. Finally, one of the other challenges I mentioned was an old and cranky heating system. We live in a mobile home, (one of the worst decisions of my life!) the walls are thin, and the pipe that burst is in the longest run of pipe out to the kitchen. Any interruption of heat could cause problems. We could have dealt with any of these things individually, or in pairs, but pile them up, and fun things happen!
Anyway, it really helped to read your kind replies. Blessed be!
