Which version do you ascribe to? (If you don't, then why not)

My favorite story is about Persephone. In the story, Persephone is abducted by Hades. While in the Underworld, she eats a promegranate seed; therefoere, she can never return to the world above 100% of the time. Zeus ends up making a deal with Hades. As a result of this compromise, Persephone spends half the year in the Underworld and half the year in the world above with her mother Demeter. In this myth, Persephone quickly changes from a young maiden into a maturing woman.
This myth helps explain our seasons. When Persephone is in the Underworld, her mother Demeter, the goddess agriculture, is grieving, so crops do not grow. Once Persephone is united with Demeter, Demeter is happy and resumes her job as the goddess of agriculture. I'm drawn to nature and all the symbolism that this myth has to offer. Also, I really enjoy the Greek stories, so that's why I ascribe to this story.
I also like this pagan story. In this story, the goddess meets Death. He teaches her some great lessons: "They loved, and were one; for there be three great mysteries in the life of mankind, and magic controls them all. To fulfill love, you must return again at the same time and at the same place as the loved ones; and you must meet, and know, and remember, and love them again. But to be reborn, you must die, and be made ready for a new body. And to die, you must be born; and without love, you may not be born."
