I got my navel pierced at the end of march. it has stopped pussing and doesn't hurt anymore, but it is still very swollen by the bottom ball and it is almost as if my skin is trying to grow around it. has anyone else had this problem or know what to do about it? thanks a lot.

The best I can say is keep keeping it clean. Once it heals all the way it should be fine. I've had a few friends get them and that's what they have had to do.

Merry Meet HippieFreak!! Great to have you here with us :D
Ive had my belly button peirced for 7 years now and still from time to time get a few problems if Ive been wearing tight trousers or clothing that rubs... My advice would be dont worry about it too much, as its still probally healing. Belly buttons are funny things because they can take a long while to heal ~ Just wear comfy clothing ~ make sure nothing is rubbing, clean regularly with tea tree oil or any antiseptic ~ Tea Tree is the best!
And if youve got a ring in at the moment you may want to change to a banana bar as these dont catch and seem to heal the piercing allot better ~ when I first had mine done I changed and as soon as I did my piercing healed so fast!
Good luck :sunny:

Merry Meet Silver Venus!
I had my belly button pierced 4 years ago and every now and then it still may get a little irritated from jeans or wearing pantyhose. It's a good idea when you take showers to move the ring around with some soap and water.
Bright Blessings!

MM! Mine too! Every now and than if I wear tight clothes my bb ring gets icky. All I usually do is take it out, clean it with soap, and put a different one in or wash the old one and put it back. Maybe you just need a new bb ring or a clense  :bigredgri
No Worries,

Hi
Piercings are funny things, everyone heals differently and
I'm sorry to some some people never heal properly
because their bodies just aren't suited to them.
My piercer says that belly buttons are the worst piercings to
heal and are most easily infected because they some in for
more wear and tear. Every time you turn the top half of
your body you put stress on it.
Lavender is a good oil to use if you find tea tree to strong.
But I do have one more suggestion. Piercings can do
funny things even after you have had them a long time.
They can become embedded in the skin or they can migrate
out of your body. I think this is you body either trying to
remove the foreign matter from it altogether or seal it away from
all you vital bits.
In any case, if you are concerned go back to your piercer and
ask them if there is anything wrong, they are more likely to
be able to tell you than a Doctor and it might just be that
your body is not as comfortable with the piercing as it
could be - perhaps you are allegic to the metal.
Anyway keep us posted as to your progress.
Good luck

if it seems like there is an actual "growth" around one side of the opening.. it might be a keloid. the only way I know to deal with them is to rub asprin on it directly (take an asprin and get it wet so it disolves and then apply the mushy stuff once a day until it starts to go away). I know that's not very herbal... maybe someone else has a better "greener" way to deal with it... but I just figured I'd throw my two cents in. My navel peircing only bothers me when the ring gets pushed to one side for too long. If it persists in bothering you... go back to your peircer and ask them about it. If they are experienced and knowledgable to actually be a professional peircer.. then they will know exactly what is wrong and know how to treat it.
