I went to a Pow Wow today at a state park. omg it was so much fun! :D I got an Agate, a cheap 3 dollar flute thingo, and some incense. I had a blast!!!!

I enjoyed my first Pow Wow a couple of months ago....... They are very interesting and fun.......:D

We are having a Hoop Dance contest here....it is very exciting and amazing to watch. I hope you have many more Powwow's to go to. BB

((((SS)))) They have them up in Phoenix every once in a while. You need to watch for ads and posters. And you can check with events planners at the casino's or hotels as they will likely have the info for tourists.

I can't wait for the local one up here. I always have a good time. My favorite part is watching the dance competitions.

A pow wow is a gathering of Indians ( native American)....Traditional dances....traditional clothes......traditional songs......lots of traditional arts and crafts for sale.......traditional foods......... lots of fellowship among the tribes.........just a good time for all............ oh yeah, cleansings and blessings.........:D
You can find everything from dreamcatchers to jewelry there...........

I lived in Phoenix for 3 years and unfortunately I never went to a pow wow, but I've heard they're great!

Hmmm Fry Bread. It is my opinion the Native culture has really influenced things here... as the last Home and Design Show had a place to buy Fry Bread.... and I have never seen that before living here in AZ. It would kinda be like having Lutefisk at a MN Design and Home show. Never gonna happen folks.... :). (That is a lye soaked fish that is pure white and rubbery.... ickum.)

We make fry bread at home. Self rising flour mixed with water. Patted out to form a circular shape and deep fried. That's it. Serve with chili for "Indian Tacos". Serve with honey as a desert.
