I just wanted to let everyone know I've done my Imbolc ritual today (Feb. 2) and I wanted to share how it went.

It was a very simple one because it's a Sunday and both my parents are home and I didn't want to disturb them. They knew I was doing the ritual but they aren't too happy about the idea.

Anyway, I cast my circle my usual way and invoked the Goddess and God with a special chant:

"Sacred womb, giver of the secrets of Life,
Mother of all that exists in the Universe,
I ask your guardianship of this gathering
and your assistance in my work.
I am gathered in celebration of your gifts and my work is most holy.
So Mote it Be"

"Fire of the sky, guardian of all that exists in the Universe,
I ask your guardianship of this gathering
and your assistance in my work.
I am gathered in celebration of yoru gifts and my work is most holy.
So Mote it Be"

These two chants are from an Imbolc ritual by Micheal Hall, distributed by the Psychis Awareness Network.
You can find a copy of it here:
The Inner Sanctum (Imbolc) (http://www.witchway.net//ritual/imbsol.html)

Then I lit the candles on my altar (7) and said another part of the ritual which I customized a bit:
"Warm and quickening light
awaken and bring forth beauty
for thou art my pleasure and my bounty
God and Goddess"

I said the next part of the ritual (see link above) with a little change to it and put some of the God (salt) and the Goddess (water) into a chalice with a light (LOTR'S) and drank up. (NOTE: I used a VERY LITTLE bit of salt. I didn't taste it.) This was to symbolize my 'drinking' in the light of Spring. It was a way of honoring it.

I closed the circle and that was that.

That is of course a brief synopsis but that's basically how it went.

I'd like to hear what others rituals/rites were like if you want to share.

Oh, that sounds like a lovely ritual.

I was unable to attend the local group's ritual here, so we had a family ritual at home. We had an altar set up in the living room with 19 candles for the 19 fires for Brigid...we had snow that we had saved from last week's snow for the sacred water. I put the globe in the center to represent Earth, of course. I had my children sit while my husband and I walked around them saying prayers adapted from the Circle Round book. I read them a story and we talked about signs of Spring then we all read poems that we had selected.

My son (7) and daughter (6) loved it and were up until 10:00 either reciting poems or writing them. I had felt such a connection with Brigid all day, and I had the candles burning till midnight.

Blessings ~*~

Well I think your day sounds like it was fun. It's amazing how there can be so many ways to celebrate one holiday!

I can't wait to hear some more!

Thanks for sharing this! I've gotta run but might merge it later on with a related thread and add it to the stuck Magickal Basics thread under Sabbats.

BTW, if I've never said so before, Merry Meet and Welcome!
