Merry Meet...

I joined this evening, and after randomly reading here and there in the community, I thought I'd introduce myself.

I'm AstraSkye (my real name is a mess, hehe), I'll be 19 on Tuesday, and I live in northern Europe (Sweden, to be exact). I currently attend adult education to get my high school diploma (I hated high school!). It's a Catholic, though open-minded school (most students are Muslims, some are openly Agnostic/Atheist, few are actual Catholics), yet I doubt I could ever share some of my "interests".

I currently define myself as "Agnostic". I have studied Pagan paths for about four years now, but never taken the final step. Studies were quite sporadic during the first few years, but got more intense about a year ago when I realized my mom is no longer looking over my shoulder (I moved out at age 16, and it took me about a year to get used to not having my mom around all the time, having problems with everything I do).

So, I live in a commune together with my boyfriend of three years, our cat who plays fetch and talks, and 11-something other people (I always lose count, because I don't keep track of the people living outside of "our" six-room apartment). The boyfriend - aged 26 - is unemployed, and doesn't share my interest in Pagan paths.

My interests consist of webdesign and graphic design, reading and collecting books, religion, computers, video games, history (mainly World War II), science (space-related), cars and driving (I got my license on Nov. 11th 2002 (18 is the legal driving age in Sweden), but I don't have a car), movies, music, and various creative things.

Paganism (as in Wicca) isn't very big where I live. There's a bookstore downtown, but that's pretty much it - that I know of - and then I live in the third biggest city. Most Pagans are quiet, and I don't know of any covens around here. So, my only way to communicate is over the internet. It's a pain. :-o

What more is there to tell? I lead a clean life. I'm a vegetarian - I drink milk and eat cheese, but I don't eat meat, chicken, or fish, under any circumstances. I also don't eat eggs, unless they're baked into something I "have" to eat. I don't drink alcohol, do drugs, or use tobacco products.

Oh well, that's me... :)

Hey Astraskye, great to see you posted an introduction. What a great introduction too, I would never think to say that much about myself, I always have trouble with introductions. I'm 19, will be 20 at the end of June!

I am not a vegetarian but I don't really like red meat so most of the meat I do eat is hotdogs, sausages and chicken. I don't eat fish...because I don't like it.

I'm glad you decided to join, I'm sure you have lots to share with us.

The driving age is 18 in Sweden? What's the drinking age? I have my beginner's license, but I haven't taken real lessons, only from my parents, I'm doing well but I'm not ready to take the test yet to get my full license. I had my beginner's at age 16. If I don't go for the test within two years, I will have to take the beginner's all over again, and that costs money. I live in Canada by the way.

:) It took me a couple of hours to write... :-o - I have trouble with introductions too. :-o

I ate a lot of hot dogs before I became a vegetarian (about three years ago)... and burgers. I kind of miss it at times. I've never really liked chicken or fish...

The drinking age is 18, as well, but it's 20 to buy alcohol at the state liquor store. It's 18 to buy beer, which is sold in grocery stores.

Sounds complicated. :-o Over here, all we need is a learner's permit, which we can apply for at age 16. The permit is valid for three years, I think (I don't remember). Driving is only legal with a licensed driver in the passengers seat. Once we hit 18, we can take our licenses, and it's fully valid from day one (meaning: no curfews, or other limitations).

Getting my license took one year and two months, but it was sure worth the time and money. The tests (one theory test, and one driving test) are quite hard, and failing (I failed my first driving test) will result in a two-month waiting time for a new test.

Jump right in.

I will :D *excitement*
