My son started to mimick me earlier while I was meditating and on the spur of the moment I decided to try a simple energy sensing excercise with him. You're probably all familiar with it....rub your hands together and when you feel heat hold them slightly apart and sense the energy between them. I had my son do this and I told him to picture the 'tingling' feeling as a glowing round ball. I asked him to imagine what color it is and to whisper a little wish to it (he wished for lunch!) then we released our balls by throwing them up into the air. He enjoyed it so much that I'm going to start doing more of these with him.:)

It will also help him focus on other things as he gets older. :)

Something that I've noticed about children. . .they seem to really really notice energy work. . . a little girl who I babysit (I'm very close to the family) always notices when I'm doing energy work. Once I tossed some "energy confetti" in the air in front of her, and she just stared at it in wonder. It's so amazing to me how much children notice that adults miss. They really "see" it. . . I'm lucky, I "see" energy like some people do, instead of just feeling it. But it never ceases to delight and amaze me when children notice little things.

You have hit upon why we love this place so much. We all feel the same way it's one of the things that draws us together. I personally have met several people that I hope someday to meet in person as they have become very special friends to me.

A friend of mine has a daughter who just turned 12mths last May.
My friend doesn't wear a lot of jewelry but I've always got some sort of necklace on, usually with some sort of crystal in them. Lexi (the daughter) is totally drawn to these necklaces!
She loves to be held and will just touch the crystals and hold them in her hand. She did this from a very young age, almost 5 months, and I really think she is feeling the energies of the crystals when she touches them. She doesn't seem as attracted to the necklaces without crystals in them.

Kids are so perceptive! I love their zest for life and how "unconditioned" they are.
I took my kids over to a local park the other night for a walk.
We were walking along, I stopped to touch a tree and my daughter put her hand upon it and said to me "momma, I can hear it humming"
I asked her what she meant. She told me she could feel it, but she could hear it humming as well.
Remarkable. I was stunned.
While I am on that point,
I am very interested in finding out more ways to teach children to work with energy and meditate etc.
Does anyone have any helpful sites or hints or books? I have been using the idea Hestia posted, and it works wonderfully. My kids love it.
They are really interested in learning more so I thought I'd ask you all.
Thx.. :):):):):)

aren't children wonderful?
I do have a few tips, mostly from my own learning, but also from things I've observed with kids.
Something I've found to be helpful to anyone learning is to "pretend" or "imagine". . .if you're teaching a child, and you're trying to tell them about a specific thing, like oh say the phases of the moon or names of plants or things like that, kids (and actually most adults) learn better from a story, so you might tell a story about how herbs worked together or something; with children the more engaging the better. And if you're teaching them how to do something (say grounding) tell them to pretend. . . like pretend they're a tree with roots and drawing energy or grounding energy "all the bad feelings you have are going down your roots and into the earth and turning into good, happy feelings, and good happy feelings are coming back up the roots to you". . . this is also very helpful for adults. I"ve know some people (myself included) who had a hard time doing some things, and when we "just pretended" to do things, we found ourselves actually doing things we thought we couldn't. But with kids it's a matter of you're in their world, and everything is there world, but so different from ours. You have to see it their way, and find a way to communicate it like that. . . Children are very very special people, who know a lot more than they ever vocalize. . . so if a child says they see something or think someone's there. . . something or someone might just be there that we can't see. Imaginary or real, it's often the same to a child. And a lot of what we think is imaginary is actually true. . . children's thoughts and words and views are wonderful, they are a joy.
^^;; have I talked too much? I hope this has been of some help, if any.
The picture is of the little girl I babysit. .. there have been times when she would notice something I did and give me these looks like "I know what you're thinking/doing" and sometimes even mention something about it. . . hehe

hehe aww thankies!! I love gina, she's like a daughter to me. I wish I was old enough to have children yet. .. hehe well I have time, and I hear that once you have them you wish you had a few minutes to yourself (although you wouldn't give it up for anything) ^^;

I taught my brothers when they were both little how to make "Energy Balls" and they still remember how to. They love feeling mine when I make them, and have been known to "play catch" with them. LOL! They are so cute...

Something I love to do with little children is make energy "butterflies" and "dragonflies" hehe. . . they actually fly around the room and it's wonderful to watch the kids' delight at the fluttering thing leaving a "sparkly trail" of energy like a little cartoon fairy or something. It even drives observent cats nuts ^^;; although my dad's cat gets annoyed with me when I do energy work lol she always tries to get me to stop. . . I think it gives her a headache. 8O
sometimes I play with energy to cheer myself up. . .I love seeing the colours. nothing like a "psychadellic" ribbon in one's hair. . . ^_~

This sounds cool! Could you please give some more info on how you describe it to them??
Thx:):):)

^__^
well, actually, I don't really describe it to them. .. some kids will notice and some dont'. . . sometimes they just look at you like "wow. . . " and sometimes they don't even notice. What I do if I want them to notice is I'll make whatever it is. . .say a butterfly. In my hands, and I"ll hold it out and say "see? see it?" and sometimes I"ll say what it is and sometimes I"ll ask. . . ^^;; kids get it right more often than adults. . . one time I tried to make a little castle and my boyfriend thought it was a bird LOL
or I might point it out in the air and follow it with my hand. .. hehe I love the look of "O.O oooh wow!!!" on their faces. . . I havn't quite gotten them to make things of their own yet, at least I don't think I have (I'm not with them 24/7 so I suppose I"ll never know ^^; ) but once on a bus I saw a little boy playing with a toy airplane, and he was making a "smoke trail" behind the jet, and I somehow knew he knew what he was doing. . .then I caught his attention and tossed a tiny handful of "confetti" with tiny foil jets in it. . . I mean, energy con\fetti and foil jets ^^; and he saw it and gave me this "oh thank you for showing me!" smile, it was such a rewarding experience. Luckily, I think his dad was asleep ^^;
OOH wait, do you mean describe to them how to do it? ^^;;;;; like I said, I don't know if I've gotten them to do anything just because i told them to. . . however, I think the best way to have anyone do it is probably to have them pretend or imagine. . . children are wonderful at imagining and it's really fun. . . sometimes they'll think they're pretending but I swear I see that princess tutu or something ^^;;;; they're so cute, I love kids.
