View Full Version : Irony what fun:D

It just seems much more gratifying when ''winning the battle but losing the
war'' means the Ku Klux Klan lost the war.

The State of Missouri refused to allow the Klan to ''adopt'' part of a
highway (a section of Interstate 55) but the Klan won the battle when the
U.S. Supreme court ruled that they must be permitted to ''adopt'' the
highway and post their sign attesting to their adoption.

But the war was lost when the state decided to, in response, rename that
particular stretch of highway to the ''Rosa Parks Freeway.'' Now the KKK
has essentially agreed to be responsible for a highway named after a
well-known civil rights activist.

And what says Thomas Robb, national leader the KKK about their signs being
knocked down frequently? He says, ironically, it's a hate crime and it's
wrong.

''I don't know why there is such hatred towards white people who simply want
to say they love their heritage and love their culture.''

Here is another lovely piece of irony and it simply amazes me that it occured at all.

Bonehead award one is a ''zero tolerance bonehead award'' and it goes to
Principal David Schmitt and the Administration at Oldsmar Elementary School
in Oldsmar Florida which had a 5th grade boy taken from the school, in
handcuffs.

Whatever did this child do?

Did he threaten anyone? Nope.
Did he bring a weapon to school? Nope
Was he insubordinate? Nope.
Did he steal something? Nope
Did he destroy something? Nope.

His classmates turned him in because, oh my gosh, he drew pictures of
weapons.

And what says the Principal, David Schmitt?

''There were some drawings that were confiscated by the teacher. The
children were in no danger at all. It involved no real weapons.'' Yet, out
he went, in handcuffs, with the police.

What scares me the most is this comment by Principal Schmitt:

''The classmates who turned in the student after seeing his drawings should
be commended because that was the right thing to do.''

Was it the right thing to do? Was it the right thing for the young brown
shirts of Nazi Germany to turn in their neighbors who they perceived were
not loyal to the Nazi government? Is this the right thing to teach our
children? Should we be encouraging people to spy on neighbors and report
them to the government for political infractions? Is this what the United
States is about?

And for those of you who feel that these students did do the right thing, I
warn you, that next time you may find that your views of what is correct may
not be in line with the prevailing powers and by encouraging this behavior,
and setting these precedents, you, your spouse or your kids may be the next
ones hauled away in handcuffs.

Do you have something to say to Principal Schmitt and Oldsmar Elementary
school? You can reach the school at mailto:Cassie_Wilson@places.pcsb.org
and Principal Schmitt, I believe, at mailto:David_Schmitt@places.pcsb.org

You can send a copy of your letter to the Sun-Sentinel at
mailto:letters@sun-sentinel.com
You can send a copy of your letter to the St. Petersburg Times at
mailto:letters@sptimes.com

Feel free to mention the Bonehead Of The Day Award. Also note that
newspapers will not print letters if you do not enclose your name, address
and phone number.

If you do send any correspondence, I'd love a copy. You can send me a copy
at mailto:zerotolerance@boneheadofthedayaward.com

People. Suck. Sometimes. I'm all for freedom of expression and religion and so forth, but would it really be so wrong to ban the KKK?

Yvonne Belisle

I personally hate the KKK and the closeminded attitudes it preaches but when we start to ban a group it opens up a very big can of worms. Then you have a precident for baning other groups. It spreads and it's like a cancer when you think you have banished it you learn that it's elsewhere. Once opened it would take generations before it could be shut again in the meantime many would be hurt by it. So while personally I'd be happy to blast them all into space without a suit I will defend their right to exist. After all it protects my right to be who and what I am. It doesn't stop at hate groups it spreads to religion and sex and age and all other groups that form.

I know and when I first learned things like this existed I wanted them gone. As I got older and began to look around I saw that even good things could have bad side effects. Now I try hard not to fall into that trap and I look at all sides and possible reprecussions. Sometimes I miss a few and it makes me angry with myself that I was so blind but it also makes me see. The issues that polarize people to one side or the other often have more facets than we see at a glance. Since those issues touch our hearts we are often blinded by them to the other side. It's a sad thing that almost all of us suffer from myself included it causes our minds to close to other ideas thoughts and feelings. Thankfully when we do see it in ourselves we can fight it and learn to open them once more.

I feel forced to defend the KKK's right of free speech, but I would, personally, like to erradicate the group based on it's criminal activity and intolerance. Look what I found yesterday. I'm still steaming mad about it, and disgusted.
http://www.whitesonly.net/******jokes.html The disclaimer says it's a joke. Check out the hanging Leroy game. That is a real photo of a man who lost his life in a lynching. Or click on the pic of the family and see that white babies are cuter. Another KKK site displays stupid emails, emails from people like us who are outraged by their behavior. Yeesh!!!

with the story about the boy...we did that story on the air on the morning show when I was filling in for our news girl who was sick...the version of the story I got said that the drawings was not really what got him taken away in cuffs....it said that he was also saying things to the boys who turned him in like "everyone around here is gonna be sorry" and making threats and things of the sort...I don't know if that is true or not...but *schrug* who knows...just fyi

I went to that site and I couldn't even look around...just opening it made me want to throw this monitor out the window!!! I can't believe that people can be like that!! I am just steaming!!! I detest everything they stand for but at the same time I agree that they should have the same freedoms the rest of us do (although I don't like it!!) if they take away the freedoms of the KKK then they could take away our right to be pagans!! let's face it...the people who don't know anything abaout paganism look poorly upon those who are....and I would hate for that to be taken away from myself and the rest of the pagans and just plain non-christains in the world!! About a year or so ago we had a KKK rally in downtown....it was interesting considering 90% of our finest in downtown are african american!! it ended up being fairly peaceful (if I remember correctly...but I didn't come to work that day...I'm not stupid!!) but it just descusted me that they were there...in my city....speaking in front of the building I work in....I didn't want them there...non of us clevelanders really did...but what can you do about it....just stay away until their gone....I guess

This kind of thing is very popular in Ohio. Being born in and raised in the grand wizards home town of Lodi has been a huge problem for me ! This is the same town that had Good Morning America in it because of those fools and only weeks before my adopting a child was to be set in final steps. I do know this man and he and his family combined do not have the IQ of a roach.

I was removed from the list of adopting a biracial child because of them and their bedsheets. And have been confronted at the grocery store over who I choose as friends, when it came down to it with a little help from my friends he no longer was a problem and stayed away from me until the day I left .

His face had a priceless expression when I also told him that I Prayed daily for the chance to have him flat on his back and look up to see me as HIS NURSE!! I told him then we would see what kind of human kindnesses I could repay him with.

I do love it when you can install a little fear into the SOB's that scare so many innocent people.

While researching the KKK, I cam across a link to email someone "If I had the Balls" from the God Hates Fags organization. Well, I'm sure you all know that I've got the balls. So, I did. I told them, simply, that their god says that only "he" can judge another. So, if the fags are going to hell, I suppose that they'd be seeing them there.

Well I got back an email. This was their response:

So stop judging us, hypocrite. We are preaching God's judgement, not ours. The saints shall judge the world, however.

I notice we have won you over on the hell issue, though -- that's a start :)

So, of course, I had to respond:

I'm a pagan. I don't believe in your god. I believe in the Great Goddess, and equality for all. I do believe very strongly, as a wiccan, in the law of 3's - which state that everything you do, good or bad will come back to you 3xs. I'm not affraid. Maybe you should be. Of course, you are affraid. Fear leads to hate, and there is much hate in you, little man.

You cannot reason with these folks, they are like some sort of rabid animal who cannot or will not listen to reason. It just seems so stupid that intolerance over the color of a person's skin, their sexual preference, religion, or their gender can be found acceptable.

We have a saying about having a lot of desert out here. This KKK person is like the guy I posted about who burned the little dog. That is all I believe that needs to be said.

I don't know if I'm neccissarily looking to reason with them, Blue. I really just looking to add my voice in disapproval so that they know that, outside of their little, hate-filled worlds, peope despise what they are doing. I believe that my words, alone, will do little good, but many voices will have an impact.

I did not see this post about the poor, little dog. Where is it?

I didn't say that you were ;) ... it was just the timing of how the post was entered. That was a general statement about trying to reason with anything or anyone who is not rational!
