I just thought it would be neat to see what everyone's favorite and least favorite cards were. What card(s) do you really love to see come up in readings and why? What card(s) do you feel have the most negative meaning for you? I guess we'll keep it strictly to doing readings for yourself... when these cards come up in your own readings.
Although there are many that I like to see in my readings and have positive meanings for me, I think my most positive cards are the following in no particular order:
* four of swords - for me this card signifies peace and serenity - something I strive for but rarely ever achieve.
* three of cups - in my deck (Robin Wood deck) it shows three girls holding cups and dancing. This card always makes me think of myself and my next two oldest sisters having fun together and celebrating. It's just a happy, good time card. :p
* ten of cups - the "happy family" card. ;)
My least favorite, or most negative cards in no particular order:
* four of pentacles - this man just looks so unhappy and lonely, shutting himself off from the rest of the world... building walls around himself and greedily protecting what he has - whether it be material things or emotions. For me this card feels like deep depression, and I know from experience that depression is a miserable, dark thing to deal with.
* ten of swords - utter defeat, death, hopelessness.

Great idea!
My favs....
High Priestess~intuition, insight ....always has been intriguing....also subconsciousness and the need to look within
The Empress~ nurturing, mothering, growth, fertility
Ace of cups, two of cups and ten of cups~ all happy loving cards.
Lest favs....
8 of wands....just gives that that feeling of catching my breath....causes a little anxiety.
5 of swords....winning at someone's expense. challenging situation that isn't over yet.
9 of swords....sleepless nights, mental and emotional anguish. (Robin wood deck)...I just picture that poor girl rocking and asking herself and the gods "why"??
3 of Swords....heartbreak....never an easy thing.....loneliness, etc.
8 of cups....moving on....feeling that something is missing....seeking completion.
okay...there you have it, my joys and fears! :)

Wow, that's really interesting! I never would've thought of the eight of swords as a negative card, but I can totally see what you mean.
I like the High Priestess and Empress a lot too. I think I like the Queen of Pentacles even better than the Empress though. For some reason she feels more like the gentle, nurturing mother to me. (Maybe it's just those cute little bunnies in the corner.) :p

My most favorite and least favorite are the same card ~ the Two of Swords. It never fails to come up in a reading ~ no matter who is doing the reading, no matter why. A friend of mine was just playing around one day, idly shuffling his pack and randomly drew a card and held it up to me ~ the Two of Swords. 8O
"Remember, you always have a choice," he said. I've never forgotten that, either!

My favorite cards (Elemental Tarot) are the Mother of Air--beautiful, beautiful card. I just love it. Also, um, let's see..Death card. The Tower card, only because it's the first card whose meaning I memorized, so it holds some significance for me. :) All the air cards are very visually compelling.

My favorites are the Star and Strength. They always serve to remind me to keep my head up, no matter what problems I am facing, there is always going to be light at the end of that tunnel if I can keep myself focusing on it. If I allow my problems to swallow me, I will lose sight of that light, that's when I'll truly be in trouble.
My least favorite card is the Tower.
My husband isn't too familiar with Tarot, although I've done readings for him in the past. I held out my deck this morning, asked him to shuffle, then draw out one card and I would tell him a fortune (all in fun). When he drew out the Death card, he grew a bit fearful until I told him that Death was just a new beginning, a fresh start. Then he was quite happy.

My least favourite card is the one where the girl is sitting in her bed with her face in her hands.
I think it is one of the sword cards(im still new to the tarrot).
That card doesn't make me feel verry good.
Ive got the robin wood deck.

That would be the Nine of Swords.
I feel so bad for the person in that card! I notice it comes up for me when my mind is racing in circles about something I can't do a thing about. :( I see it when I have restless, sleepless nights because I'm chasing those mental ghosts....what if, why....etc.

Dagda:
Do u think that one has to be able to uses their psychic abilities to be able to do a reading for another person?

I don't think you have use them. I don't feel very psychic, but I am very intuitive and insightful. (been around the block once or twice)
I know when I do a reading for someone, I not only read the cards....but I can feel their energy and look for their reactions. I think this is a big help when reading cards. :D

ive also got an old tarot deck, i dont know how people can manage to interpret them bcause the minor arcanna don't have images, they are just like normal playing cards.

If you know the general meaning of the card, then you can look at the other cards around it and interpret from there. :D

One of my favorite cards from the major arcane is The Star as this gives me hope. The one I don't much like to see is The Tower since I know there is going to be some majour upheaval but it is a bitter sweet card since my recent "mystical Aha" experiance were I reasiled I was a creature of Choas and couldn't really live happily with too much structure in my life. As far as the Suit cards go I guess I dislike a lot of them but I don't like to see the Nine of Swords at all and also the Five of Cups is a sad one to see. I guess I like the Two of Cups and the Nine of Coins the best. A lot of my likes and dislikes come from my likes and dislikes for what the cards look like though so I guess this is more about how pritty the card is and less about what the meaning is some of the time. On one of my sets the Nine of Coins shows a lovely natural garden with lots of wild animals in it and I love that one since it's really a card of encouragment and enjoyment of the pleasures you have worked for.

my favorite cards are the hermit (raider-waite deck) and the seer (its shapeshifter deck eqivilent), the shapeshifter (Shapeshifter deck, eqiv. of hanged man), and the double(shapeshifter deck has a couple extra cards, this is one of them).
I like the hermit and the seer because I kind of see myself as a seeker of knowledge, especially inner knowledge, and I always seem to end up outside any given group. I like the shapeshifter because it is about being between states, stuck in the middle, neither one thing nor another. it is a process of transformation. I like the double because I kind of see things in two lights- any two. the way things are vs the way they should be, or what's intended vs what happens, my veiw and the veiw through another's eyes...all part of being a libra, I suppose.
I don't really have many cards I specifically dislike - the negative cards have their place and purpose, but I do dislike when *every* one of them comes up in the same order on *every* personal reading I do.
gives me a feeling of impending doom...
