I am EVER so interested in anyone who has ANY advice on dealing with severe eczema in a child?? I have tried (hold on to your hats): chamomile EO (both german and roman), carrotseed oil, patchouli, frankincense, clary sage, rosewood, tea tree, palmarosa, lavender, myrtle

I have given: turmerik, chamomile, valerian (we don't sleep), probiotics, antihistamines, grapefruit seed extract, Evening Primrose Oil, Flax Oil, and others...

Right now we give baths with epsom salt, myrtle, and chamomile...then we apply skin-e-dip which is basically zinc oxide and balsam. ANYWAY, I've yet to find someone with the magic recipe:) ANY suggestions would be well taken.

Love and Truth!

Have you looked into possible food allergies or allergies to your cleaning products...laundry soaps, bath soaps, lotions, etc? Did any of the things you've tried helped even a little?

Thanks guys. Well, yes the chamomile and carrotseed oils worked so good the first time that I used them that I thought they would be it but they weren't...yes, he is allergic to certain foods but this does not appear to be the cause of the eczema (I also have a daughter who suffered from the condition for five years). The Epsom Salt baths help to draw poisons from the system and the skin-e-dip isn't too bad...he just tears himself apart though and it breaks my heart in fact right at this moment he is scratching his legs and I know they'll be bleeding when I walk in. If I find the answer, I swear to spread the word to every sister and brother on the face of the earth who I can find suffering with this. I've never had the money to experiment with rose oil but I think that would be interesting as well.

Also, there are times that some energy work has helped to some extent...also, I use only detergent without the fragrances and dye and I try very hard not to use any chemicals unless necessary because I am 100% certain that he is sensitive to chemicals and they are a no-no anyway...

Has your son seen a dermatologist or a doctor regarding his condition? Some food allergies can cause eczema. Even if the detergent is fragrance-free, it still contains chemicals that can irritate the skin. Same goes for commercial soaps and some lotions. It might not be a bad idea to try & find the cause of it...that would give your remedies a fighting chance to heal.

Yes...we have been to dermatologists (allergists with my daughter)...it isn't an allergy...it is something to do with the autoimmune system...so, in a way it is and allergy to just about everything...some things are worse than others...we have to watch nuts, milk, and eggs. He is obviously allergic to certain perfumes as he breaks out just being around incense and such. His dermatologist prescribed Protopic ointment which works for about three days and is then useless for quite some time. There was a time when I was taking him to the dr. about twice a week...also, he was in the hospital three times with a related asthma condition which developed into pneumonia. So, I have dealt with this for around seven years between the two of them...BUT, it does seem to improve with age so things will get better. Thanks again:))))
